Favorite Place to Purchase Felt for Food?

Good Morning!

I have hemmed and hawed about making felt food, and FINALLY have enough $$ in my PP acount to buy some felt for making food.

I would live to purchase some of the blended felt, for ease AND endurance...but since I am just starting out...I don't want to spend TOO TOO much.

Anyone have a favorite place or favorite type of felt that they buy?

Thank you!

I bought $15 worth of wool sweaters (I'd say I have around 20 of various colors) that I felted in the washer/dryer. Like you I didn't want to spend too much to start with and wanted to get a system before I dropped any real money.

Bought them all at charity-based thrift stores on sale.

Kinda depends on the colors you want. Your best bet may be to decide on what foods you want to make, then select your felt (take it from me, since I did not do it that way, and am trying to figure out what foods are blue and pink! ) Another option is to purchase white or off white and hand dye the small amounts you need. Anyway, I'm going to be buying some wool-blend at Joann because it's very affordable compared to all wool.

If you want the best, I agree the Weir Dolls sells lovely stuff, as do Magic Cabin and A Childs's Dream come True.

I have bought my 100% wool felt from Weir Dolls. However, I have a friend who is allergic to wool and prefers the 35-65 type because it's a little easier on her hands. It's also a lot cheaper. She buys it from Prairie Point Junction (they sell 36-65 and 20-80). They have a sampler of every single one of their 78 colors, 6x6 squares, for $24. Since felt food is so small, you can get away with smaller pieces. Obviously, they have lots of other buying choices too of 12x18 pieces, 9x12 pieces, yardage, etc.
