Mucus plug or just gross stuff?

I'm almost 38 weeks so am anxiously awaiting the mucus plug. I've been, what I'm assuming is the normal leaky pregnant women, but it's always been clear stuff. This morning when I got off the phone and stood up I leaked something heafty feeling and it was obviously whitish and kinda dense, almost waxy. (sorry for the details)

I've read another post where a women said she had been losing her plug for a week! Is it really that much to lose? What would you think???

I don't know, I'd be thinking it's the start of a mucus plug also. No blood? no bloody show? Has anything else happened since you posted last? or are you in labor now? lol. If you have a midwife to call, call her, ask her. I'm just behind you by 1/2 a week with 1 1/2 cm dilation, soft cervix and maybe 50% effaced but no bloody show yet so we're thinking a good 2 weeks still. well i hope so anyway.
Girl if it was me, I'd finish cleaning those floors, call some people, and go buy some birthday candles. I'd be thinking any minute.
Good luck!

I read someone elses description of loosing their mucus plug by saying "their vagina seems to have a bad cold" ....gross ~ but so fitting! I would like to see some slime myself....still waiting for any signs that we are getting closer

hey all...

i just had the same thing about an hour ago, an absolute ton when i went to the bathroom. but mw said yesterday it's very common NOT to have bloody show w/your first. labor may just start w/contractions or even water breaking.

you can lose "bits and peices" of the plug for weeks. i've been told nothing to get too excited about until you lose the "tippy top" part....the tippy top part will be pink or blood tinged, and THEN you can expect labor to begin sometime in the next 24-48 hours.

just a "bits and peices" girl myself here, but trying to patiently wait.

in fact, I don't remember having bloody show with my first 2 births, but i did with my 3rd. i was having contractions that were keeping me from sleeping and when i went to the bathroom i had blood tinged mucous on my underwear. I was in early labor!...9 hours later we had him!

*ponders...i wonder how this one is going to go....?*

I lost my plug about 3 weeks ago during a cervical exam(it was on it's way out and wasn't caused from the exam). Then the last 2 days, I have had a TON of mucous. Not sure what it all means. Just amazed how much there is.

yup, things are a bit slimy here too. (ick) but no contractions of any regular intervals.
