Hey folks, I'm hoping you can help me solve my problem with my dryer. When I run the dryer with any kind of heat, it produces a strong chemical odor which also transfers to my clothing.
I do actually know (at least I think) why it is doing this - we are having renovations done on our family room and the flame in the dryer is burning the vapours from the chemicals (paint, caulking, drywall compound). Our gas stovetop is also making the smell. We had this happen to us a few years ago and it was because DH had been using varnish on a new bookshelf.
Anyway, my problem is this: it has been well over a week and (thanks to the very unusually nice weather) I have been ventilating the house like crazy. But the smell still persists. In fact it seems to be a little worse. I've looked around the laundry room and furnace room to see if a can of paint or something has been left open but can't find anything.
Does anyone know anything else that could be causing this odour? If it's just the renovation I guess I have to just keep waiting. Anyone have this happen and discover something unusual that was causing it?
Hopefully this will make sense to someone other than me!
