Facebook took down BFing pic

Does anyone have any experience in this matter? If you'd like to see the pic, it's the same one as in this profile: http://www.blogger.com/profile/03014761105792283513

I have other BFing pics there, too, but those haven't been removed- just my profile pic.

Sadly, it has happened before. Check out this facebookgroup. I'm not sure if you can fight it or not. It does probably mean that someone flagged it though.

Yeah, I just posted there... just waiting. I think they're calling it "nudity." Alas! I really don't want to lose my account, though.

Sorry to hear they took your photo down

This is what I did: I put up a different breastfeeding one. I'd say just as much breast is showing but my DD's hand is in the way of the areola.

It's frustrating- I can walk around with my entire breast exposed while breastfeeding in public as per Utah State Code 10-8-50, but I can't online.

ITA. Especially when if you had a sexy photo of yourself showing more breast than in that photo, they wouldn't think twice about it.

Sorry Mama. I had a similar photo on my MySpace. I had a friend make some comments and I told her to deal with it. Two days later, it was gone.. she had flagged it most obviously. :

Hey - Just wanted to give some support - I have seen some very scandalous party-girl pictures (girls in next to nothing) that show so much more than the sweet pic of you and your babe on facebook. How ridiculous. Sorry I wish facebook (and our weird American culture) weren't so... stupid - for lack of a better word!

This happened to me a few times on myspace and what really bothers me is my page is private ONLY my relatives and friends are on there so someone had to report it I went and deleted more than half my friends after that and just left the ones I know REALLY well. Its sad and ridiculous!

okay my friend had someone on her friend list that posted a picture of his penis on his profile

I thought it was rude....but it was not removed.

What the heck it wrong with your picture?

Can I get suggestions for an email? I'm thinking:

Dear Facebook Admins,
Yesterday, one of my pictures was removed and I was then told that pictures are removed for "containing nudity, drug use, or other obscene content." It was a picture of me breastfeeding my daughter. This is obviously not drug use. As for nudity or obscene content- even if nipple had been showing, both my state of Utah and your state of California protects breastfeeding in both public and private places, whether or not part of the breast is shown. This picture thus showed no nudity and was not obscene, so it did not violate the user agreement.

Or should it be simple like:

My picture was taken down for violating your user agreement. If you actually look at the picture, you will see no nipple is showing, nor am I actually breaking any of your own rules.

Ideas?

I used a slightly modified version of the top. We'll see how it goes...

I made it a policy when I first went on facebook that I would only use breastfeeding pictures as my profile pics. So far none have been removed and I can't believe this is still going on. I have see some pretty crazy pictures on facebook that have to do with sex and they get left up. But feed a baby and it is a no no. This world is crazy.

Me too, only I got lax because I wanted to put up a pic of my new wrap. Off to change it back!
Sorry your pic got removed. I hope you get a decent response to your email.

That is just crazy!! There is nothing about that photo that involves nudity. Ridiculous. I am sorry.

A friend of mine on Facebook sent a 'game request' to me the other day. It was called "similar", I think. I had to choose five pictures out of twenty shown, and see how 'similar' I was to my other friends (how many did we chose in common?). You get the point...

Anyway, of the twenty pictures, several were beach-type, some were sci-fi, and one was a black and white photo of a topless mother nursing her baby! You couldn't see any nipples, but the mother was clearly topless and the baby didn't have any clothes on either. So, why is this one of the 'games' on Facebook, and is OK, but it's not OK to use certain breastfeeding photos on our personal pages?

It's annoying to me when there are different rules/standards for different people, who are all doing the same thing!

Just venting...
