Homeopathic Vaxes & Husband wants to vax - help!?

I've been reading Mothering since I the day I learned I was pregnant, our son is now one, this is my first post but I want to thank you all for your support because I always turn to this forum when I have a question!

Two things, in reading a post I came across someone who mentioned homeopathic vaxes, does anyone know more about these and if they exist and/or work?

Also, has anyone experienced being in total disagreement with their husband about vaxes? We have not given our son any and although I have given my husband websites, books and even videos he still wants to vax. We're in total disagreement, I keep telling him he needs to do the research. Fortunately our pediatrician supports non-vax (he didn't vax his own son), but now my husband thinks we should get another opinion. Any advice? Has anyone else gone through this? With all the risks I'm convinced non-vax is right. I was also totally against circ. but caved when my husband was adamant about it.

Tell him, classic homeopathy DOES NOT KNOW VAXES. There is nothing in homeopathy that is a vaccine, regarless of what some folks call it. Any serious homeopath shudders at the name "homeopathic vaccine", those that "do them" are not "homeopaths", they are something else.

Please read up both on vaxes and homeopathy-most homeopath will tell you that. There are certainly "constitutional therapies", but those are not vaccinations.

I am from Germany and actually "spoiled" when it comes to Homeopathy and was a bit disappointed when my Ostheopath just wanted to give me some mixed homeopathy without much thought or analysis.

I would recommending looking into both things seperately, vaxes and homeopathy, they absolutely don't have anything in common.

I think what you are thinking of is called nosodes, which satisfy some people and even some legal definitions of vaccination. But I suspect that if your husband reads up too much on how they work, he's not going to believe in them. They are even more outside of the mainstream than the concepts of not circing or vaxing.

Yes, yes, and yes. I begged DH to wait until I could research more about vaxes, but he bullied me and DS ended up getting his 2, 4, 6, 9, and 12mo vaxes. I still have a lot of problems emotionally because of this. After DS's 12mo, I got the Dr. Jay Gordon DVD and it HAS helped DH to know that DS is not automatically going to die if he doesn't get all the shots. He has come to more of a selective/delay position. He still seems to ignore all the factual info I send his way though. For example, yesterday i sent him studies on the flu shot yet he went and got one anyways (his choice, which is fine with me, but it's like he totally ignored everything I wrote).

Has your DH actually watched the DVD's (which ones?) or read the books, or is he just glazing over them? I think if he wants to get another doc's opinion, that is fine and he is perfectly within rights to do that, but be prepared to correct any misinformation the doc gives him. Make the doc back up what he is saying, give you the studies printed out.

I would say put your foot down until you can research and learn more. I wish I had.

I'm terribly sorry about the circ, DH and I fought on that also. He said I 'won' the no-circ so he gets to 'win' the vaxes, which is not a grown-up way to decide on things!

I can't believe that if your husband has actually read and looked closely at all the info you have given him that he can actually still want to vax!! Ask him why? How did he come to this conclusion based on all the info you have given him? I bet you 1 million bucks he really didn't put all that much effort into looking at the stuff. Ask him to tell you what he has learned. I did this with my husband and he really couldn't tell me much even though I have stacks and stacks of stuff I asked him to look at. I basically told him that our son would be vaxed "over my cold, dead, lifeless body". at least at this point. I am always researching and if I ever see any evidence that they are safe and effective then I would happliy change my mind. I think he knew I was deadly serious and wouldn't cave no matter what, so he backed off and now supports me 100%.

As for the nosodes. I can see there are some that adamately oppose them. I got 3 for my DS and my homeopath is a homeopath not "something else". I feel comfortable with this, although you won't be able to find a whole lot to show your hubby about them as there is not a whole lot out there

Thanks for all the support. I don't think I made this entirely clear, although I've given my DH the material (books, videos, etc) he won't even look at it! He won't take the time to read anything (which is why I got him the video but he claims it's one sided). Ugh. Naming the disease and it's symptoms is a great idea. he actually started to come around when he learned that none of the diseases are life threatening. Thanks!! It's just good to know other ppl go through this too.
