Recycled sweater clothes for bigger girls

Hi mamas,

I'm stretching our budget as far as I can,: and I'd like to give my daughters some some wooly leggings to sleep in. Also, I had the idea of using some of the wool to make some warm skirts that they can wear on cold days.

Has anyone made skirts or leggings for older children? I'm about to boil some sweaters, and I'm ready to start cutting!

Thanks!

DS is 5.5yo and I made him 3 pairs of wool longies from some sweaters I bought at Goodwill. He LOVES them and they keep him so darn warm.

Go to the library and see if they have the book Second-Time Cool, a bit dated but don't let that turn you off. It has lots of ideas for skirts, leggings, mittens, hats, slippers, etc. It's more on an idea book rather then a pattern book but it will definitely get the creative juices going.
