Waldorf head firm enough?

I know that theoretically a well-made Waldorf doll head should be firm, but just how firm? How soft is too soft? I get indentation when tie the horizontal and vertical strings around her head, but it doesn't really change shape.

Since I have never held a Waldorf doll, I am just guessing. I am making one for DD and don't want to move on unless her head is "right."

You should get an indentation when you tighten and tie the strings...

It def. indents. How would I know if it is too soft?

It should be very firm. You shouldn't be able to distort the ball when pressing it between the palms of your hands.

Now what do I do? How do I get it thay firm? If I unwrap the wool and start over, can I reuse it?

Yes, you can reuse it. Start off with a small bit of wool between your thumb and forefinger and roll this tightly adding a bit more wool until you get this to the size of a walnut. Then add your 2 inch strip, wrapping like you would a ball of yarn but keeping pressure pulling tightly almost to the point where your strip will break, but not quite. You should feel the wool fibers locking onto each other and the ball should not unravel if your set it aside. Keep on pulling and wrapping until you get to the size you want and then place the ball into the center of the sheet of batting you have prepared, pull it around and place inside your stockinette.

Here is a wonderful picture tutorial--
