Question about Clomid and cycle length

If I ovulated earlier on Clomid than I usually do on my own, will my cycle length be shorter? Or will I end up with a longer LP (mine is usually 14 days)? On my own I don't ovulate until somewhere between days 18 and 21 but with the Clomid it was around day 14-15.

Typically your LP stays consistent so if you O earlier then AF should show earlier.

Your cycle will be shorter, yes. I do the exact thing on letraole, ovulate early, but my LP is unchanged. One thing is if you are on progesterone supps, your Lp will be way longer, until after you stop taking it. Hope that helps.

Clomid can extend the luteal phase for some people-it's sometimes used instead of progesterone supplements to correct luteal phase defects. It's not exactly possible to predict whether yours will lengthen or not...mine did, which is, I think, what enabled me to get pregnant.

I think my doctor was hoping that it would shorten my cycle which is usually between 30 and 42 days. Quite the range, and tending on the long side even though my LP is usually 14 days long. Thank you for the input.

From what I have understood, the Phase Folicular is the one that can change, the Ovulation always happens 14 days before the following period, so the Phase Lutea is always the same.

In relation to your question, from what I have understood if you ovulated before as you usually do, your rule it should come earlier, but we must think POSITIVE that it will not come.

GOOD LUCK!!!!

Yeah, but my blood test came back negative and I don't have any symptoms of pregnancy so I'm assuming the test was right. If my LP is the same, then I should have gotten my period on Friday. It's got to be coming.

Actually, that's not true at all. The TYPICAL luteal phase lasts anywhere from 10-16 days after ovulation and some women have longer or shorter luteal phases.

DaisyMae - When did you do your blood test?

I got my blood test on Friday. It was definitely right as I started spotting this afternoon. Looks like tomorrow will be CD1 for me. Apparently Clomid slightly lengthens my LP. Oct. was my first Clomid/IUI cycle, so I've been learning as I go along here. At least I'll know what to expect this month.

Does anyone know how often Clomid causes early ovulation? I'm starting Clomid for my first IUI this month and I'm a little worried - I usually ovulate on cd14 and DH is going to be out of town for cds 8-10. With my normal cycle we'd be fine, but how early I am likely to O on the Clomid?

If you take it CD5-9 you'll probably be just fine!
