DH is an appliance specialist at Home Depot and I vaguely remember him talking about how they discount floor models, scratch & dent sort of thing. Maybe ask and see what they've got.

We have hit every local hardware store then only and the best "deal" we've found is $200 off, broken drawer which was poorly glued back together, its been sold twice to have to be returned and worked on. It is also beat up along one side..... and $200 off is supposed to be a deal at Lowe's... Its a crock. Our local dent and ding is the SAME PRICE as Lowes and HD!! And we are talking serious damage.

It makes me nervous to kick out $500 for a fridge on CL just for it to work for a month or two cause it was going out to begin with and then we can't come up with the money to get another, which means we'd be stuck with a fridge that is not cooling (just as the one now) and putting my kids' health at risk.

We would definately have it paid off by the end of the year, probably in the next 6 months. We've played that game before. I think thats the decision we've come to is apply for it and if we get it we do and if not then current card. Thanks for the tips ladies.

I also wanted to mention that the warranties at home depot for refrigerators are very reasonable and are good for 5 years. Parts and labor/service.
We just purchased a new refrigerator and it is our first new one. The warranty definitley brought us some peace of mind since it was such a large purchase.
