last-minute name change

We've been going with Henry James since July, but last night DH and I came across the name Tristan and it hit a chord.

What do you think about Henry James vs. Tristan James?

I think I like Tristan better, but it's such a shock that something else came up that I don't know what to do. I haven't said it out loud enough. They're both old names, which is what I wanted. (Both match our DD's name, too.)

Our plan is to just see what he looks like and go with our gut feeling then, but I'm curious what other people think. I don't want to ask the fam, though; I don't trust their opinions!

for my second child we had settled on "Jamie Noelle" until i was 36 weeks pregnant and then we began rethinking...(dh is Joe, 1dd is Julia, we knew if we ever had a son, he'd be named after DH so another J name....Jamie was the only J name we halfway liked for another girl..i had found myself calling my 1 year old "Jamie" before the baby was even born, and thought hmmm..maybe we shouldn't do the only J thing!) We came up with Megan Elisabeth and decided to just take both names to the hospital and see then. baby was born, we took one look at her and KNEW without a doubt she was a "Megan". (i however couldn't give up Noelle...so we did "megan Noelle") and to this day I could not ever imagine her as a "Jamie"...waiting until she was born was the best thing ever!

our next child was a boy....named after daddy, that was easy.

this child we are doing the same thing...waiting until s/he is born and then deciding. i have a few top girl names i like, and a couple boy names....but when it comes to it we want to see and meet the child first. it is driving our family insane (what? don't know gender OR the name!??) but that is part of the fun of it too lol. *insert evil giggles*:

I won't give you my opinion on the names, i think they are both good, but i won't be the one meeting this child, you will! and waiting until that moment is priceless imo!

You're all right-- I'll just have to wait and see what fits best. :-) Just glad to see no one said, "no! not that name b/c blah blah blah."

i am a big fan of waiting to see the little kid before you give them a name.

we may even wait a few days for this second child of ours before we name her.

it may seem like uncertainty, but giving somebody a name is a big deal in my book!

good luck!

I'm another waiter - but I always have favorites ready. I like both Henry and Tristan, but Henry better.
