The PERKS to "still" being pregnant...let's encourage eachother!!

So, while there are so many of us now waiting these last final days/weeks, I thought maybe we could all use a "pick me up" thread of good advantages to NOT having had the baby yet?

I'll start. For me it is good I haven't had the baby yet because:

~athough I am up every two hours at night anyway, at least MOST of the time i can roll right back over and go right back to sleep....no 30-45 minute nursing sessions to tackle TOO.

~even when insomnia does hit me and i can't fall right back asleep, it is nothing so consistent as the sleep deprivation of nursing/caring for a newborn every 1.5-2 hours every night around the clock.

~I can let steaming HOT water run down my breasts in the shower and NOT cry out in raw pain.

~I can go up and down my staires mutiple times a day without "Lochia Increasage" to worry about.

~I can still, somewhat, clean the house better than DH. Lord help us when baby comes and it's all on him.

~I can poo without fear.

okay...what about you ladies? what are some perks to "still" being pregnant?

as un comfy as i am, i am trying to enjoy every last hour of this pregnancy, as we plan it to be our last!

i enjoy seeing peoples reaction to the size of my waist (as if i may tip over at any moment)

i'm happy not to have to carry yesterday's delivery of two cords of firewood from the driveway to the porch. :

i'm enjoying not cleaning the cat litter for one more week.

i am enjoying my DH taking over more toddler duty allowing my to sit here and type.

hanging in there

Due to this new baby's arrival, we spent the entire summer and fall putting a 600 square foot addition on our house. It is about done, and all that is left now is cleaning and moving furniture. Guess who DOESNT have to do it........

I love the way my big round pregnant belly looks. It makes me feel so womanly, fertile, and goddess-like.

I still love feeling the baby move inside me. I like having it be just me and her. I remember missing that a bit after my son was born, so I'm trying to cherish it now.

Great thread.

And for a few more days (more or less) I only have to buckle a toddler into the car. I imagine that the time required to leave the house is going to at least triple with a baby.

If he waits a week to show up I'll be in the hospital when the ILs come to town and that wouldn't be too shabby!

I was thinking about this as I vacumed this morning.

I have BOTH hands to clean, eat, answer the phone,etc...with!

I don't have to adjust baby to a better position for...anything yet.

I can stall a day on diaper laundry.....

I am not leaking from anywhere enough to have to wear a diaper or pad....

I don't smell like sour milk if I miss a shower.

I don't have to worry where the cat is-I'm nervous it will sit on or scratch the baby...

I can hop in the shower ANYTIME I want and not have to arrange an hour of time for it.(only to get 10 min.)

The whole baby in a cold carseat or carry the whole carseat deal is not happening yet!

If I need quiet I can find it.

Solid poops in diapers.Non-exploding diapers....

I have a good reason NOT to have my act together, even though I wish I could...After baby, I can and I must, and I'll HAVE to....For now I can let it slide....

No severe allergies to contend with at the moment.

Personal time/personal space.

I vacumed the whole upstairs, I had too long to think about it!

I also like my round belly and feeling the baby move and squirm about.
I can do homework and study in peace without taking care of a little one yet
I get time to myself while my other kids are in school during the day

LOL, this is a good idea! But it's funny how everyone is different - I am NEVER even close to as tired with a newborn as I am at the end of pregnancy. So that one doesn't work for me....but I definitely hear you on the carseat thing - LOL - I suppose I am glad to have another week or two of "only" 3 kids in carseats, 1 of whom can buckle her own. Having 4 in carseats is going to mean not only taking longer to get in and out of the car in the cold, but also that we'll no longer have an extra seat in the minivan. We've been looking at the 8-seater minivans, but for now, there'll be no room for any passengers, which means we can't even take just my mom with us anywhere in one car.

Bundle- Im the same way, I was telling DH how I can't wait to have the baby so I can get some sleep. I spend the night alternating between waking up with painful hips, waking up with heartburn or waking up to pee. Im so tired, I can't wait to wake up to just nurse a baby and go back to sleep.

Perks to being pregnant:
All the stores over here have expectant mothers parking, which is a lot easier on me since DD tries to run off in parking lots. Its usually about 2 feet from the enterence.

I don't have to worry about packing a bag (DD I can just throw a diaper into whatever bag I can find).

Being pregnant is a convenient excuse for not going to things that you don't want to go to.

I dont' have to worry about holding the newborn and chasing after my toddler.

I felt pretty yucky, unattractive and gross this whole pregnancy versus with my son (blame it on female hormones), and last week I finally had a wonderful feeling about myself and it has stuck. I want to revel in my glow for a couple of days longer...

Dh is moving his shop/office OUT of the house on Thursday and Friday of next week. We'll gain a whole room of space and I can finally set up a cozy nesting room. And my MIL arrives next week to cook and help take care of dd. I am so excited!!!!!!!!! I'd love to stay pregnant until then.

I'm also enjoying a lot of one on one time with dd which might not be too common of a thing in the near future.

NO DIAPERS to wash every night!

I love that this time is just my son and I. I love feeling him move around inside me. I love that I am his whole world.

When he is born my husband will take him, probably for everything but feeding! lol... so now I'm taking advantage of the next 4 days of just he and I.
This will be our first baby, so I'm enjoying having this time alone with my husband. All the major nesting chores are done, we've avoided social commitments, and are just taking it easy with the dog.

Last night we decided to, um, take advantage of our dwindling time as a twosome , and gave things our best shot. I seem to have knocked my left hip out of alignment or something, but it was worth it!

For me I am really enjoying the time with my husband after DH goes to bed and then times when the three of us are together. We took a family photo yesterday down at the beach and it felt so odd that soon, we will have another person in our family. We will never be just the three of us after the baby arrives.

I am also enjoying that we have things under control at the moment. It feels like once the baby arrives, it will be chaos for a while until we get into a new routine.

This is an awesome post!!!

It is nice to be able to make a last-minute decision to go somewhere, and just go. I don't have to make sure the diaperbag is packed and the baby is dry before I go anywhere.

I also really enjoy long showers with DH rubbing my back. (Nope, that's not a euphamism, get real people! I'm not an acrobat, geesh! )

The fashion of pregnancy is awesome. Only shoes that fit are your old Tiva sandals, which you wear with socks 'cause it's :? Who cares! No one sees anything but the belly anyways!

That is so not true about the shoes!

I'm wearing Birkenstocks with socks.

I love the excuse to eat spicy food... because it could induce labor.
Or maybe, I'm abusing that just a little bit

Katie, no one out here in the sticks cares about my shoes. But maybe since you're in the "NYC area" people care more? : If I want to wear my lace-up shoes in the evening I have to put them on and keep them on all day.

Oh and another perk: told DH this evening I'd love a Boston Cream donut. Really for the first time all pregnancy we made a trip into town JUST to get something I was craving. Typically DH would balk and complain, but I guess since he knows how bad I've been feeling this week, he was all enthusiastic and proactive. That makes me feel really good.

Oh, and in addition to that donut I got a few more.

And we also splurged on McDonalds!! Ohhh the fries were so hot and good and extra salty...

hey nerdy, nah, no one cares about my shoes either. I was trying to make a lil joke like, "hey that's not true, I'm wearing something other than tevas!" when in fact I'm wearing birks which are just as dorky. i wear the birks all summer anyway, but it's been a while since I carried them into winter with socks.

and now I'll stop talking. I think I'm punchy because I'm starting to recover from my cold which is making me all peppy.
