3rd trimester starts tomorrow for me! I'm already feeling it in the bottom of my ribcage, it feels like they are being pushed apart from the inside. Soooo sore. Ouch.

US today, and placenta has moved up. hooray! My low back is killing me. Went to see a chiro, and while it helped, it was also way more expensive than I thought it would be(insurance doesn't cover it like I thought it would).
Have to do the 1hr glucose test on Wed. Blah.

26 week appointment
So I saw the diabetic couselor who chewed out the pharmacy for screwing up all my prescriptions. She demanded that I increase my calories by eating more food more often, I didn't gain any weight. My insulin was upped to 8 units. I don't have to go back next week, just call in with my numbers. My OB ordered more tests. I had blood drawn for CBC to check my anemia status. I'm scheduled for another u/s in two weeks. She didn't seem happy about my restricted diet nor the fact that I'm on long-acting insulin. It sounds like she wants to put me on regular insulin, which would mean taking shots before every meal.
My tummy measured 27cm and the baby's heartbeat was 150's BPM. He kept kicking the doppler, lol. I'm at 1lb total gain from pre-pg and my BP was 122/66. I have to fax in my blood sugar log next week and have an appointment the following week. I think that's how we will continue until I start NST's, around 32wks.

I weighed myself last night and I've gained about 5lbs which is great. This baby likes to lay down low and it hurts, turning over in bed has become much harder.

I know. We've been incredibly lucky. She does tend towards yeast issues, but no actual colds or viruses or anything until now. My husband gets sick once or twice a year usually, but I manage to avoid it most times. But unfortunately this time, I've caught it too.
It's been three years since I was sick (so I guess it was time for both of us). Normally Zicam and Vitamin C stave off whatever but this time they're not doing squat, and I'm miiiiiiiiserable. Throat hurts, head hurts, very itchy chest, coughing that makes my belly muscles hurt. The whole nine yards.
I ended up taking an OTC today, after I looked up all the active ingredients and they were all considered safe, then realized afterward that it also had alcohol in it.
: Which isn't the end of the world. Last time there were a few occasions where I drank a little wine to help calm bad BH, but still. Anyway, baby's moving lots and I did have a good nap.
Winnie's been better in the day, but not so great at night, but seems to be responding well to the homeopathic remedies. Me, not so much. We were both in bad shape last night though -- had the humidifiers going and mounds of tissues by the bed.
And my ILs are here. Which is not helping.
Oh yeah, it's a cruddy week.
/whine off
s&d, congrats on telling your boss and having a great plan. You can do it.
Sounds like you've got a good start already. I complain about finances but the reality is I would much rather things be super tight and still get to stay home.
Nilla, I'm sorry you're sick too.
CandyApple, congrats on passing the test! And monkaha, hooray for moving placentas!

I've got two weeks left of work and we are in the mucky throngs of the flu/cold/norwalk/virus season!
I just assume that all of my patients are even more contagious than I usually assume they are ... I don't do the flu shot, so I'm drinking tons and tons of water, and hand washing like crazy, and glove-wearing, and using paper towels to open the door after using a public loo, etc, etc.

Upward-moving placenta vibes to you guys!!
Starling, I'm the same way. I work in a hospital; so far we've not seen any flu patients, but it's only a matter of time. No shot for me either, so I do most of the same things you do.
nighten-hope it's a short bug for you! Pity about the inlaws being there too-maybe that lets you hide out from them a bit? Or are you stuck playing hostess and suffering?
Ok, so when does the 3rd tri actually start? I'm feeling a little too braindead at the moment to add it all up. (and my chemistry grades are starting to reflect the preggo-brain. crap.)

It depends on who you ask. Most of us seem to be going by 27 weeks = start of 3rd trimester. It breaks down more evenly that way.

I counted 27 weeks as 3rd Tri.
Enjoying a day off from work today. Getting tons of laundry done and organizing. Stayed in PJ's till 11:00. Pretty sweet. DH is off today too working on the house. He's insulating the floor in the house from the crawl space. That should make a big difference this winter! How nice to have a day off during the week. I'd like one every week!
Hope you are all well. Let's hope all those placentas have moved up! Yeah Monkaha!

I am due Feb 19, so I'm about 26 weeks along. I had my Glucose test today at the OB, that orange stuff is nasty and am hoping for good results!
I've read so much about everyone's neg. experiences with standard hospitals and whatnot that it freaks me out perhaps a bit unnecessarily. I'd love to go to a birthing center but there aren't any in Atlanta (this is a major city, wth?) and I can't even afford a doula right now. So today I had a discussion with one of the docs about some of my concerns about labor and induction and was greatly relieved by how open they seemed to letting things progress naturally and only intervening if I or the baby appeared to be doing poorly. Hospitals are far from perfect, but I am very thankful for the degree to which they have progressed towards listening and not imposing on natural processes.
I saw the thread from last month about not having bought anything yet, and I'm still in that boat! I have noooo clue what to buy, what to put on a registry, whether or not to get a registry. It is so overwhelming! I am trying not to freak out that my due date is only a bit over 3 months away, there is so much to do! I have this combination feeling of super excited and completely tweaked. Can you tell this is my first?

Soooo sorry; I feel your pain. I've had this for almost a month now (I am at 28 wks) and it's the worst at night
Only thing I've been able to do is to try to tuck a pillow under my belly when laying on my side...it helps some.Glad everyone is doing fairly well. Everyone in my family has some sort of cold too that I am trying to avoid. E was never sick until she started spending time with more people this past year (Sunday school, preschool)...DOH!
Hope everyone has a great rest of the week!

I'm so far behind all of you! I'm just now 25weeks and due on the 24th. I usually go about a week or so before my dd, so maybe I won't get teased too much with the birth stories. They're torture during the last month!LOL Like waiting for X-mas for a 6yo.
Speaking of sleep. My legs are tingling every night now
Every pregnancy it happens, but it sucks each time. It's hard to lie on my side when it makes my hip feel so weird. Then, my restless leg syndrome kicks in and I have to kick my feet around to ease the sensation. The baby is transverse, so it feels like he's trying to stand straight up during the night. Plus I snore so loud and my husband has gone down to the guestroom for the duration of the pregnancy.
I do end up sleeping though. I wake up at least once to pee, so I put a small nightlight in the bathroom so that I don't get awakened by the light. Although, sometimes that's not so good because if my 8yo son goes to pee in my bathroom before bed, he always leaves the seat up!
Ah, the joys of pregnancy sleep. I can't wait for my tummy to be flat enough to lie on my tummy.

I had my appointment yesterday, and everything looks great or . . . "boring", like my OB said. (boring is what I want to hear!)
BP was 104/60, I didn't gain any weight, so it's 14 pounds total. I did the GD test . . . so that is out of the way. They will call me if results are abnormal.
Baby girl's heartrate was 128.
I am up to the 2 week appointments now. I can hardly believe it! I don't want to wish this pregnancy away, since it's my last, but I am starting to get a little uncomfortable. (mainly at night) 12 more weeks!

My house is still upside down. Everything's a mess; the foyer closet/pantry is being rebuilt, but slowly. It's a big hard to live like this for awhile.
Good news on the moving placenta! Hope you're feeling better soon, Nighten. Did, hopefully you get some relief from the pushing up. Mal85, how nice to get to hold a newborn!
My skin is freaking out right now. It gets very dry and irritated- partly the cold dry air, partly pregnancy. I'm trying not to shower so much
and having baths at night instead seems to be less irritating, and also so much more relaxing and better for my body.

Sooo uncomfortable last night. I think I ate too much at dinner. I can't seem to find a happy medium between starving and miserably full anymore. I'm two weeks away from the third trimester (due February 25), but I definitely feel like I'm already there lately. I never knew how much more difficult this belly would make things! I work in childcare and am having a heck of a time bending over to get things from the floor. Climbing the stairs to get to my classes at school is also becoming increasingly difficult, I feel the elevator will soon be my friend, something I've been avoiding until absolutely necessary.

Aww, I hope your week has been on the upswing since then! That sounds awful.

We are on a pretty tight budget right now too. I really really really want to be able to buy a house but we have to save up a huge amount of our income to be able to get into a decent house within a few years.

Well, I went to a homeschool Mom's evening and thought I was having fun until one of the Moms started talking about the little girl they adopted a couple years ago from Africa. She kept refering to her as her "African" or "Our African Girl". A little bit of hideous can really ruin my evening- to say nothing of the "African Girl's" entire life.
