driving up the M1

Hi - just wanted to extend my offer again to any of you that might be driving up or down the M1 over the next few months.
If you would rather stop at my house for a cup of tea rather than the services - because we all know how horrible they are - you are welcome.

We are just off junction 28 (about 10 minutes) - not far from Alfreton, derbyshire.

We have pets - large dogs and cats and the house will be a mess, but if neither of those put you off just pm me and i'll have the kettle on.

What a lovely offer. We're carless, but I didn't want to read and not reply.

I'd also love to meet other like-minded mums, but with a 4 week old I'm not venturing very far from home (Ladywell) these days. Sometimes its all I can do just to make it to the other side of the house to use the loo!

The next time we brave the drive to Durham I'll take you up on the offer, Puddleduck. Mum is coming to us for Xmas, so it's probably not going to be for a while yet.Should anyone be traversing the M4, we're in Swindon, and ALSO have a functional kettle (and mad pets.)

We just drove up to Leeds on Sunday

On Friday we were looking for something fun and touristy to do with the kids on the weekend and found that Sunday was the last day of the Weta Workshop Lord of the Rings and Narnia etc armour and weapons exhibit at the Armouries and so we braved it and rented a car for the day and drove up.

It was Dave's first time driving over here but he did splendidly and had no trouble driving on the 'wrong side'. He had more trouble with his turn indicator/windshield wipers since those were not where he expected them to be. As a result he often didn't signal correctly but our windshield was nice and clean .

We hit crazy traffic both directions. On the way there due to an accident and then on the way back we scarcely moved for an hour. Is this typical?? Gah!

The Armouries and especially the Weta exhibit were fabulous and well worth the fortune we spent on a car and the hours spent in the car. Fun fun and we were glad not to have missed it. The boys are all fascinated by weaponry and armour and LOTR so this was cool. We've all watched ALL the special features on the LOTR discs many times and seen all the Weta Workshop stuff so it was super nifty to be able to see it all up close.

Next time we make the journey we'll have to stop in and visit you though!

I don't know where we'll end up permanently but for now if anyone happens to be in the Maida Vale area...drop by!

xo

Sorry, Tracy, this is entirely typical of the M1. I hate it
