How to make my own air freshner?

I'd like to make my own air freshner. Do I just mix EO with water and put it in a spray bottle? Or do I need to add something else?

I have a lot of different scents of EO's...I already use a plug in diffuser to scent the house as needed, it's similar to this: http://californiababy.com/wall-diffuser.html ... but I'd really like something I can spray around the house on specific smelly spots, I'm particularly thinking of like the dog bed. Any EO's that are not safe for dogs?

I would also like to make a "pillow spray". I'm thinking vanilla, chamomile, and lavender EO's. Anyone have a recipe they like? Again, should I just use the EO's and water, or do I need to add anything else? Will the oils in the EO leave stains on my sheets / pillowcase?

Thanks very much in advance for any advice!

for just spraying in the air, i'd think water would be fine, but if you're spraying it onto a "smelly spot" i would put the eo in vinegar (or diluted vinegar). i know vinegar doesn't smell good, but that smell will go away when it dries and hopefully the eo smell will stay - or at least the vinegar will actually help eliminate the "smelly spot" rather than just cover it up.

for linens, i would stick with water and eo, but it does seem possible that certain oils could stain or discolor fabric. then again, if it's a couple of drops in a cup of water . . . ? just test it out first, i guess.

i also don't know about anything that could be unsafe for doggies, but i better watch this thread for the answer, since i have a dog!
