I've been looking at information about using soy isoflavins as clomid and am wondering if anyone else has tried this? If so, do you know if it's safe while breastfeeding? Thanks!

I used soy isoflavones the cycle I got pregnant. I don't know if that is what did the trick or if it was just coincidence. I ovulated regularly anyway, but I often spotted for a few days before my period started in earnest. I don't know about using it while breastfeeding, though.

What kind of dose of soy would have effects on ovulation?
I drink a medium decaf soy latte everymorning (or almost everymorning). I`m guessing that isn`t enough, as I just don`t ovulate! Can you get "therapeutic" soy isoflavone quantities in just your diet or do you have to take supplements?
Is soy mild even a source of isoflavones or is it too processed?

Bena,
Daily soy consumption might be counter-productive, really. To use soy isoflavones most effectively/therapeutically to trigger ovulation, you should only be consuming soy during 5 days early in your cycle (CD 3-7 is a common choice). You can buy soy isoflavones in capsules. Personally, I would cut out the soymilk in my diet if I weren't ovulating regularly.

I did soy before turning to clomid. The soy worked just about as well. I was bfing (an older child) and felt it was safe. The high dose is only taken for 5 days. Can't recall what the dosage is. I would cut out any daily soy consumption as the pp mentioned.

I have been using soy isoflavones 200mg for 2-3 cycles now, no luck. Our IF problems are many, though. I thought it might help make ovulation stronger. I think I normally ovulate just fine, but have spotting starting at 6-7 dpo. I need to find some OTC progesterone cream, or ask my GYN for a script. I just don't know if I want to get all "medicated" again.
