To vaccinate or not?

My husband and I have been discussing this topic as I am 5 months pregnant with my first baby. A baby boy in fact! Anyhow, I am wondering if anyone knows any information regarding not vaccinating babies, books, websites, etc? Thanks!

Check out the vaccination forum right here!

I suggest researching each vaccine and disease individually to decide what's best for your family.

When we did so, we didn't find any vaccines we wanted to give our kids.

I second the vaccine forum and I would also gently poke you to look in the case against circumcision forum. Now is definitely the time to look at these decisions. I wish i would have been more informed the first time around, I think my DD would be much better off ......

Also, you can always choose to vaccinate later, you can NEVER take a vaccine back. So unless you are completely comfortable with a given vaccine, put it off till you are sure.

If you are breastfeeding, even a little, baby will benefit from your strong immune system. Look into ways to get and keep yourself healthy. Being pregnant and having many of the common pharmaceuticals off limits, now is a great time to do some research FOR YOU.

My biggest recommendations is NO Vaccines till at least 6 months. Give babies immune system a good chance of building itself w/o interference. If after that time you feel strongly about a certain vaccine, then do that one. I am due in March also. By the time winter and the nasty cold season hits, our babies should be around 7-8 months old. That would be the time I would look into starting to vaccinate if I were wanting to. Still deciding what we are going to do with this one.

Hope that helped.

And I would suggest delaying any vaccines to 2years.

We bought the Dr. Sears Vaccine Book. It was easy to read and he gives both sides of the argument. It came out last year. We still have not done any vaxes.

I would really keep an open mind about vaccinations. It is so individual and not at all black and white. Look at your risks and situations. If you have a baby at home-- maybe several of these vaccines are not necessary but if you have a baby in daycare-- some of the risks of the illnesses are greater.

We have always been selective and VERY delayed in our vaccinations personally

Which ones would you worry about more in daycare?

I've heard hib tossed around, but stats show it's virtually eliminated....
