40+ TTC getting ready for the Holidays - Page 2

Hi everyone! Have the day off today (I am a nurse so my work schedule isn't a nice predictable Monday to Friday). So glad to see the bright sun here today, but the temps have dropped a bit, we had it unseasonably mild the past few days.

msgoodbuns - You are not crazy. Given your good FSH number and that your RE feels it is worth a try, I admit that if it were me, I would have to give it a go with my own eggs, just in case! Yes there is a greater risk of problems but the the odds are still very much in your favor of having a healthy pregnancy. Sure can't hurt to see what the follicle scan reveals. Best of luck!

my other age is 34 - I think you only get to use multiple icons is you have signed up for the paying membership....

veganmama - Thanks, and I am so sorry about your losses! Yes, I am in Halifax...the 40 was my age when I signed up on here for the pregnancy boards, it was hard to start frequenting the TTC boards. I am 10dpo today, so we are pretty much at the same point in our wait. I hope your higher temps are a good sign!

ompath - Thanks and best of luck this cycle!

SunRise - Thanks! Glad that you were able to try this cycle...goodness such long times in between must be hard!

BHappy - Best of luck!!

AFM, I s/w my RE's office today, and since my last day 3 FSH test was 5.8, they suggested that I try to stim w/my own eggs. I'm actually thinking about it, but would have to start next cycle, since I"m CD 7 or something like that now. (Need to have a follicle exam on CD3). Am I crazy? Much greater likelihood of chromosomal defects at 44 - pushing 45. I guess the folly scan can't hurt, right?

Welcome to all the newbies. May your stay here be short and productive.

Msgoodbuns with that FSH level and insurance until next fall. I would be asking when can I start. I say go for it! Maybe I am wrong but don't they screen for genetic abnormalities with IVF?

My other age is 34 the number of icons in your siggie is dependent upon your post count.

AFM I am 4 dpo, after o'ing on day 11 grrrr was hoping for a day 13 o date. So not very hopeful this month. Just waiting for next month to hope for a better o date. Oddly tearful for no reason today, not sure what is up with this. I had a few days like this last month as well. I don't know if it's hormones or what?

Wishing everyone success in their journeys and peacful thoughts to those dealing with difficult days ahead.

Thank you for the new thread, Laurie! It looks terrific!

Welcome to the new ladies... it is always nice to have more wonderful women join us on this journey.

I miss a day because I was working really hard and there is a whole new thread with new people! My head is spinning! LOL

Just trying to stay positive here. If nothing else, at least this cycle is much better than my last, very abrupt one. Though I am feeling a bit off and I don't think it is because of illness. I will just have to wait and see. If my cycle is back to normal, AF should be here in about 3 days. If not,... :

Here's the instructions I posted in the last thread about how to link a chart in your signature:

Quote:
You need to go to your link near the top of the page that says User CP. Once there, you can choose to edit your signature. Choose the chart smilie (you'll need to click the "MORE" link so you can see them all. They will pop up in a separate window). Once the code for the chart is in your signature, highlight it and choose the "insert link" from the top of the edit box. It looks like a world with a chain link near it. A box will pop up that you can put in the URL for your chart page on Fertility Friend or Ovusoft.

It sounds complicated, but it really isn't.
That way no one has to go digging for the old one. And for some reason MDC limits the amount of smilies in your signature until you've posted X amount of times.

I am not sure if I Od yet. I had full ferning on my scope on yesterday and we DTD the day before. DH left on his business trip that day too so the next BD opportunity will be on Thursday night/Friday morning which is cd 14 & 15 which maybe too late for me I usually ovulate on day 10, 11, or 12 I'll have to wait and see what my scope says by then. I am not temping.

Karen - I have tested a little early a few times, however I have decided to stop doing that. I figure for the sake of a few days I would rather just have AF arrive or hopefully get a nice BFP that I don't have to squint at than spend money on tests that could easily give a false neg if I test too early or (though I have never had one myself) an evap to get my hopes up if I am not pregnant. But that is just me...some women have great luck testing early and for some it reduces their stress to do so...I just feel better about waiting now.

Laurie, heres hoping that you O'd around the time you think you did and that your timing was right!

hi, again

i've been around and checking in often but no time to post, you know how it goes. please put me under "hopeful" / TTC. thanks. i started here in the summer version, then was here for fall, now it's winter. i made sure we DTD during my fertile time, but it was 5+ days of EWCM and we did it on day 2. sure hope the sperm stayed alive long enough for the egg to get there, supposedly they do, but DH is 57, don't sperm sometimes decrease in quality with age. anyway, i'm hopeful that one of these months will be a winner. i have not lost hope at all. the trick is timing for us. he works a split shift that has him up at 3:30 a.m., home at 9 a.m., back at 2:30 and then home for the night at 8 p.m. and we have a very very active 2.5 year old, who is tough to get to nap, so our only real "window of opportunity" tends to be saturday nights, as other evenings DH really does have to get his power sleep in, and sometimes i like to nap while DD naps during the day (and DH takes a 2 hour nap, too).

one question i would have for everybody TTC, is it just me, or do you also feel less horny/motivated for sex when it's *not* that precious "window of opportunity"/fertile time? is this just me? (i am nursing a 2.5 year old who is wearing me out physically- maybe this accounts for the less than high libido), i dunno, what do you think?

ElliesMomma I added you, can you give us your age please?

Thanks for the new thread. We moved 10 days ago from our falling down house and I have finally made enough progress unpacking to take a breath. It is great to see so many new women joining us and TTC. to everyone.

Welcome Ellies! I am pretty sure that it is normal for your libido to rise and fall during your cycle. I know that post-O my libido is pretty darn low until right before AF.

Hi Joyluc! Nice to see you.

Welcome Elliesmom.

I am 12 DPO.

And what a sweet looking chart you have! :
elliesmom I think the breastfeeding has a lot to do with it. I know my interest is much lower now than it was before giving birth. I think prolactin makes libido take a hike. Kind of mother natures way of insuring adequate child spacing. That being said since starting chinese herbs I have noticed an increase in libido.

to all with losses -- my due date is coming up next month, sigh, but I'm trying not to think about it. Welcome newbies. I passed my clomid challenge, which I knew I would, now they want to do a "trial transfer" and also another HSG (apparently they are only good for two years or one pregnancy) and another thing that's called a sonohistogram, but they forgot to tell me it had to be scheduled on CD 1. I hate the RE's office, but they are the only one on my insurance as far as I can find.

I agree, Veganmama... your chart is looking good this month!

AFM: I am at 11dpo and fluctuating temps in a fairly normal fashion. That makes me so happy after last cycle's fiasco of a 5 day luteal phase.

We just found out about a guy near here who is giving a house away... we're thinking of entering. It would be sooooo great to have no house payment, and our chances are nil of getting the mortgage loan we need for our current place by January. :P I just have to write a story about why we deserve the house, and then people vote on the story they think is best at digg.com. Would any of you consider doing something like this? It has all been set up by lawyers and has been approved by the state, so it is all legal and above board. Heck, I'd live almost anywhere if I could get a free house with new appliances.
