Soy Wool Stripes $1.50 a ball!

My local Michael's has Soy Wool Stripes (SWS) 70% wool 30% soy on sale for $1.50 a ball - it's usually 5.99. I just nearly cleaned mine out, I love this stuff. Apparently it felts too if that's your thing. Not sure if it's a local sale or not but what a deal! I just went in for one ball to finish a project...oops.

: for you!

I am most envious.

It's not a local sale! Michaels is having a big sale on yarn this week. Paton's Classic Merino is $3.50! best price I've seen in a long time! Here's a link to the sale:

A quick FYI...I bought some of the soy yarn and hated it! Several skeins kept breaking, had knots in the middle, became VERY thin just randomly, etc. I found it very frustrating to work with. Hope that helps....i did love the colors though!

Oh boy, I'm so tempted to take a ride up there and see what I can see . . .

Darn you all to heck, I didn't need to know this. Especially because my Joanne's (where I want to go to find a pattern for a little cape jacket) is right next to a Michael's.

I'll be passing there today. Hmmm.... I'm not sure that all the stores in the US have the same sales, though. I looked at the circular online for our area and don't see the Patons Merino, but I'll probably check anyway.

i was just there last night and was so tempted. the alpaca was on sale too so i got a couple skeins of that for mittens for the girls. i'm tempted to count my quarters and go back though!

I made a Toddler Tunic out of some, an earflap hat and matching mittens for dd and one skein wonder for me! Oh, and my first soaker! I do think it can be splity - it's a single ply. However, since I first knit with it, my tension has relaxed and had no problems with any of the projects in the first sentence, all knit in the past 4 months or so, most of them in the past month.

: I'm not sure if you were joking or not, but this is the exact thing that I do!

i'm making slippers with it right now and i like it. it's not the easiest to work with, being splitty single ply, but it has this sheen when it's knitted out that surprised me. it looks way better knitted than on the ball, and it's not too shabby on the ball.

OH my goodness!!! I am so there!!!!! like I need more yarn . . . .

wow, I wish the nearest michael's wasn't 2 hrs away! I have made DS some felted mittens and soon plan to make a hat for him from the 2 little skeins of SWS that I have.

I really want some for me!

OOOHHH!!!! I just made DD a poncho with it and loved it. The only problem is when I made her fingerless mittens the striping is way off and looks kind of weird. Does anyone know if it felts well? I haven't tried it yet.

Yep, our Micheael's had both SWS and Classic Wool on sale. Not a lot of color choices in the SWS, and not enough of a dye lot in most colors. I bought a couple skeins of "Natural Plum" for a hat, one of Classic Wool for my Log Cabin blanket. They mostly had the soy wool solids rather than stripes.
