Rough day

I'm only about 5 weeks, but my milk supply is gone. We were only nursing 3 times a day, but she is getting very frustrated when she goes to nurse and gets nothing. We went to our natural parenting group and my dd1's yoga class today and dd2 wants to nurse anytime she sees someone else nursing. She kept trying but wasn't getting anything and she started crying so hard and so did I. One of my good friends tried to nurse her, but it wouldn't do. I feel so guilty, like I am letting her down. I left the room and threw up for the first time this pregnancy. I am riding the hormonal rollercoaster at this point and I hate how I have no control over my emotions during pregnancy.

I am sorry your milk has already dried up

I hope your little one is able to adjust quickly and at least enjoy the comfort nursing you are offering.

Thanks for the support. I just hate that the decision of when to wean was taken out of both of our hands. I have a friend who is a LLL leader that I will see on wednesday and I'm going to talk with her about it.

First I want to send hugs to you.

I also wanted to say that a week or so ago it was looking like my milk supply was gone. My LO was getting frustrated and had taken to pinching near the nipple while nursing, lots of switching from side to side and constant (and I do mean CONSTANT) night nursing. I was afraid that this would be his weaning (though also more afraid of continuing like that (the pinching and night nursing were wearing me very thin). Things have stabilized a bit since then. We're nursing more during the day and my supply has improved somewhat (enough so there is sometimes some dribbling on his chin). I guess my point is that anything is possible.

Same thing happened to me. A week ago my supply was very low, so that my LO was becoming frustrated. I had so much guilt that we had conceived too soon. But, whaddaya know, a few days later, my supply was back again and so far, so good. There is still hope

My milk supply is definitely also dropping! I'm really hoping it will pass. Would love to nurse a bit longer!

I didn't realize milk supply dried up due to pregnancy. I am learning new things every day! But I'm really sorry for you, and I hope the situation improves soon.

Hopefully your dd will adjust soon! I'm sure I will be in a similar boat any day now - DS has no interest in giving up nursing, but I know eventually the milk will be gone.

My low milk supply is what clued me into my pregnancy. dd is just so upset about it, and so am I - so I know how you feel. I friend of mine is pumping for me and Im going to cook with it, and let her drink it so she is still getting the nutrients - thats still really important to me. But I miss our snuggles...and how she would "pet" them

i'm so sorry! i really hope, for both your sakes, that it's not completely gone. i nursed through all my pregnancies and my supply usually went down in the second tri. you can still comfort nurse as long as that's not too painful. whatever happens, she will be ok. it's tough to see our littlest ones pushed out of their spot as baby before we're ready, i know.
