Is this labor?

Since I lost my mucus plug in one big piece yesterday afternoon, my usual BH contractions have become uncomfortable and, at times, downright painful. Since I got up this morning I've had some that took my breath away, and they've been ramping up since around 2pm. Now they're coming about every 10 minutes and are making me groan and walk my way through them.

I called my birth doula, who suggested I lie on my side and try to rest instead of focusing on each contraction. I did that for about two hours, watching episodes of Planet Earth and trying to nap. But lying down makes them worse and harder to ride out, so now I'm up again and DH is on his way home.

My bowels seem completely empty by now (sorry for TMI) and I'm very queasy. Sometimes the contractions come in pairs with no break in between, which is brutal. When DH gets here I'll try to figure out if I should call the MW or just wait. I really don't want to have her come over unnecessarily.

Anyway, please send some good vibes my way. I think this might be it! :

:call the mw!

you're in nyc? who's your mw? that would be kinda funny if you see cara too, since i might be in early labor.

Do you think I should? It seems so premature...the contractions are so far apart and totally manageable as long as I walk around.

I see Joan Bryson. I hope you have an easy labor too! :

I would call her, give her the heads up that she might be coming on out to your place tonight. That way if active labor hits you at 1am, she's not surprised. Of course I know MWs expect those things, but still. I'd call, but do try to rest. You could be like this for a while.

sounds positive!
I would give your mw a heads up as well.
It could be a while or it could just keep getting more fun.

FWIW I couldn't be still with ctx when I had DD. I had to move once things really got exciting.

I'd give her a call!!! But try to rest as much as you can right now. Hope you have a good night! :

Hi everyone--

Utterly exhausted but thought I'd drop in to let you all know that our son, Felix Milo, was born peacefully at home at 2:30am today, November 11, 2008. I'll write up a birth story eventually but for now I'm a little preoccupied. :

Thank you SO much for all your support and good vibes. It was the hardest thing I've ever done and the most rewarding.

xoxo
