I was cursing my horrid skin today when I realized something, I don't have any acne at the moment and my skin still looks awful! My skin has stopped breaking out quite a bit over the last year, but it still looks blotchy and irritated. I don't have indented acne scars, more like little spots of darker pigmentation. They look horrible, and nothing I'm doing seems to be helping.. Anyone here use anything that seems to help?

It's not cruchcy but the only thing that has helped me is using Arbonne RE9 facial serum.... I've lived with this same issue pretty much for the last 15 years, so i can feel the pain on this one.
Arbonne stuff is pricey and it's not 100% natural, better than most over the counter stuff, but still not pure. However, I am SICK and TIRED of the condidtion of my skin and Arbonne has helped considerably.

What are you using for cleansers and moisturizers right now?
I had to change everything to get the redness/irritation out of my skin. The only soap I can use is olive oil and green tea (kiss my face brand), I tone with Thayers rose witch hazel with aloe (alcohol FREE) and moisturize with 97% pure aloe vera (Lily of the Desert). I reduced the frequency of using makeup, and also changed that to a mineral one, avoiding my nose (or I get blackheads).
I have also eliminated fabric softener from my sheets and towels.
I also got a recommendation for Rosehip Seed Oil, and that did BAD things to my skin. I can't use any oil.
For the spotting, take an egg white, whip with a fork, and add a tsp of lemon juice. Apply all over face (this is watery, so it's tricky), and rinse it immediately after it hardens. It'll be tight and you'll want it off. I'd do this maybe 2x a week, it's gradual, but the spots will fade. The witch hazel helps that too.

Those red spots are scars from the old acne and they won't ever fade if they keep seeing the sun. So as well as using the other advice posted, I definitely would use sunscreen everyday, rain or shine. not just in your moisturizer but find one that you like, and wear it also, on top of your moisturizer, everyday. You may want to try a gentle liquid exfoliant, no beads. Origins makes one as does aveda. You could also add a cooling masque weekly. That'll calm the skin. Good luck.
