I have been no-pooing since March, and I am still washing my hair every 3-4 days. I don't do any water-only washings between because I don't have time (honestly, I have to schedule the two showers I get a week with my husband!) I use a wood comb now, and I am wondering if I use a boars hair brush that I've heard about, could this help spread the oil at my scalp down the shaft of my hair and maybe help me go longer between washings?

Yes, definitely!
It helps and makes the hair much shinier.

I've tried a boar bristle brush, but on my naturally wavy/curly hair, the results were NOT pretty. I looked like I had a frizzy lion's mane.

it's not looking so good on my hair, either, and I don't think it's helping the greasy root problem, either..

my husband and i both no poo and brush a lot. we have thick, wavy/curly hair and use a wooden bristle brush instead of boar bristles. i think the wooden brush would work better than a comb. it works well for us--none of the scary lion's main/egyptian wig hair i got with a boar bristle brush.

We're vegan, so we haven't tried the boar's bristle brush, but we do have a wooden bristle brush. I got it one year when I was so stressed that my hair was falling out. It's a paddle brush that has the squishy part beneath the bristles, and the bristles themselves have no ball-like things on the ends (kinda like this one, I think). This brush is, by far, the best one I've ever owned, and it's the only one I've used since I got it. I no-poo, and it distributes the oil very well. It also doesn't pull, at all. Found it on ebay about six or seven years ago.
