I don't think my 2 yo would have been very interested in a cash register, but I am all about getting something if it's a really good deal, and squirreling it away.

I got my son (just turned 4) a pair of silk dress-up wings, and I think that is all we'll buy.

I'll TRY to knit him matching hat, mittens, and sweater. But I might not manage the sweater (I have to pull apart a sweater I started ages ago and didn't finish. This one will have to be simpler... maybe a vest? we live in southern California, so a nice wool sweater can usually be the outer layer). I also hope to finish the 3 knitted kitties I started last year.

He's been begging my husband to make him a wooden horse and cart from the "Toymaking for Children" book. Maybe he will manage it. I'd love him to make a set of playstands but I'm not sure he's totally on board. Also, playstands would require jettisoning some of the stuff we have cluttering up our small apartment to make room so we might just forgo that.

Last year (when he was newly 3) we gave him a tin of crayons, a set of 3 watercolors, a knitted mama pig and 3 babies, 2 books, and an orange. He was perfectly, completely happy with that.

I feel mostly overwhelmed with stuff, and relatives give too much, and I spend far more time trying to get rid of things than I do trying to acquire them. I am trying to convince everyone to do one present max.

i really AM trying to keep it simple! the problem is, i want all of these toys for myself!

i ordered the kinderkram stable and wooden farm animals as a joint gift for the girls (DD #1 basically since DD#2 is only a few months old but it will be DD#2's someday when they are grown since DD#1 will get the dollhouse and accessories!

DD#1: colander for the tub, and some wooden eggs (she is infatuated with eggs since we got our chickens), a crayon roll (made by me) with twig colored pencils, and the spiel und holz sink, toilet and bathtub dollhouse funiture. stocking stuffers are an amber toddler teething necklace, a wooden bolt toy, some playclips and wool socks. St. nicks day gifts: ruskovilla mittens, Winter by Eva-Maria, honey sticks.

DD#2: Mother Earth and Her Children book, disana overalls, wooden bowl and spoon set, and I am making her a little knot doll. Stocking stuffers: wet felted balls, wooden rattle, amber teething necklace, Evi doll little baby (since ours is MIA from our set). St. Nicks Day: Winter by Gerda Muller, disana mittens.

OMG, yesterday I received a box from Myriad with LO's xmas pressies, lots of Osthiemer figures and beautiful books....I have never seen the figures before and i didn't realise just how stunning some of them are... and big!!!!!!!!!!!!! the horse was massive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LoL
Seriously, opening that box was like Christmas day for me!!!!!!!!!!!

mamauk- I know what you mean every time I open a parcel from myriad I'm literally drooling. I save it to open when my LO's are in bed so I can savour each piece!! lol.

What Ostheimer figures did you get?? We only have the dragon but I am hoping to get some more this Christmas. Just exactly how big is the horse?

The brown horse with reins is approx the size of your palm (I wasn't expecting it too be that big for some reason) the pig is also pretty big!!

These were all pressies from relatives, they all gave me a set amount of money and said spend it in the Myirad catalogue, have it all shipped to me and then they will wrap them! My Lo's will it all! They are lucky!

What a great lot of presents!

I would love to get Dh a wooden dragon, he's in a big dragon and knight phase. But I snoozed and the one at our school store is gone. I don't like to pay shipping, but you're tempting me!

Speaking of school store, I just picked up a few things today, and I am feeling like, aside from teh always-difficult stocking stuffers since I don't want candy or junky toys, we've got just about the right amount. Maybe one or two more things.

I am getting Dd the cutest little wooden playground set, for dollhouse-type dolls. She's gaga over this doll carrier, which I dont' know why since it doesn't fit her well and she has a sling, but she's totally enamoured with it so I will buy that and alter it to fit her. I found Ds a little wooden dexterity-type toy that he's suddenly taken an interest to. I don't know what it's called but one of those things iwth the wooden ball and hoop connected you are to get them together. I'll get one for Dd too, just so she leaves his alone and they'll fit in stockings !

I also bought my supplies to make them gnomes. I can't wait. I've way too many craft projects right now, but I just have to do it.

I do have to think of something else for Ds, though.

For those of you who celebrate Christmas, do you do Santa? How do you figure what he brings vs. what you bring? On top of that we also do Hanukkah and St. Nicholas (which can be kept beautifully simple, but still). So I need a lot of stuff, without it being *a lot* of stuff! Hanukkah we don't do a gift every single night b/c of that.

those horses are beautiful pablo!!!!! much more organic in shape than the ostheimer/engelberger horses. the nutbrown horse is quite lovely..
