Although I haven't been called for Jury duty in NC, this is not a family friendly court state. I visited the family friendly court site and want to do my part to help make NC a family friendly state that excuses mothers from serving if they are nursing as well as excusing those that are full time caregivers.
Does anyone know if any action has bee taken thus far in NC? I live in Mecklenburg County, there is no provision to be excused for nursing or being a full-time care giver. I need a little direction on where to start. Do I start writing my local legislator, drumming up support amongst women in the area, talking with LLL, doctors, etc. Any ideas on where to seek support/letters to help or what action to take is appreciated.
I don't want to come on too strong, but want to seek sponsers for possible legislation. I was thinking about writing a letter and notating what other states have done as well as breastfeeding benefits.
I had to serve in FL and nursing is not an excuse, but I worked fulltime. I had to pump on the bathroom floor and it was disgusting.
