How much EO to add to soap?

I make about an 8lb batch of soap at a time and was curious abut how much essential oil I should add for fragerance? I know a lot of it will fade as it cures (unless I do hot process, which i guess I could do).

Is there a rough estimate?

I use an average of 1.5 oz per 80 oz (the size of my mold).

I think it depends a lot on the essential oil you're using. For citruses and lavender, I use 1 oz of eo for every 16 oz of base oils. For anise, I use .5 oz. For tea tree, I use .25 oz.

ETA: Rainbow Meadow has an essential oil blend calculator that helps you figure the amount of essential oil for a batch of soap. I use the recommended or a touch more for staying power. If you Google "Rainbow Meadow blend calculator", you'll find the link. Just click on your eos, find a blend, and input the amount of your batch of soap. Be careful! You'll find yourself spending lots of time playing around with different blends.

I agree with PP. It will depend on what oil you are using. Keep that in mind if you blend them too. A 50:50 blend may not smell like both oils if one tends to disappear faster, etc.

Neat calculator by the way!
