pot pie- sub for butter, flour & cream

Hi Ladies,

I'm craving my chicken pot pie any suggestions for subbing the butter, cream and flour. I was thinking of olive oil instead of butter and I bone both instead of the cream but I'm not sure about the flour.... and I'm just not going to put the top in it. Any suggestions? Do u think it sounds like it won't work?

I never used cream in my pot pie. Mine had a gravy base, which could be thickened with any alternative flour (my favorite these days is sweet potato flour, makes a very smooth non-gelatinous gravy). And you can still make a biscuit type topping with an alternative flour. If you can have potatoes, the starch in that does some thickening as well. You can do it (and then put the recipe up in the sticky!)

Can you have rice flour?

I would make a crust with Bob's GF flour blend and Spectrum shortening.

For sauce: chicken bone broth thickened with Spectrum and arrowroot, lots of sea salt, very tasty. Or chicken fat as sub too would be very good. Olive oil does not taste right, trust me.
