? about Lipase in pumped milk.

I can not find any info on line or in my textbooks about diet change.
Do any of you know of a vitamin , herbs, homeopathy, or dietary change that will stop pumped breast milk from becoming foul tasting from Lipase.

I'm aware of how to correct it by scalding freshly pumped milk after it is pumped, but this client is more interested in changing the constitution and body chemistry to stop this from happening (she also does not have access to a stove for many hours after she has pumped).

It's a recent onset, baby is 9mos old and the mom has been pumping for many months and this just started happening recently.

Do you think it's from too much fat or soy in the diet?
She is trim women who eats nutritious whole foods.

Any ideas is welcome.

try LLL message boards

I used to post at the LLL boards and there was a whole section dedicated to breastmilk storage. It seems like 1/2 the posts were on lipase. I never post there anymore so I don't know what the link is. I vaguely remember women talking about changing their fat intake. But I think someone said her milk improved when she stopped adding flaxseed to her diet...I am sorry I don't have specifics.

Also, there is info on the board about scalding milk in a bottle warmer. This kept me going because it was so much easier than scalding in a pot. You only have to heat the milk to about 145 degrees and heat it longer, two minutes I think. It's the same technique as vat pasteurization and should preserve more of the good stuff in the milk.
