any advice on home based businesses?

So I'm looking into home based businesses and just wondered if anyone had feedback on the pros/cons on whether to think about buying a business, buying a franchise, or just doing your own start-up....?

this is one of the franchises I was thinking about - or something along this line - I've also seen a couple of already established independing businesses that are similar that are for sale...

I don't have much information on franchises, but I just wanted to say that that seems like a really cute business. I had never heard of it before.
