Do you do quiet time when nursing baby to sleep?

I have a three year old who is generally not loud in the first place, and I have never really thought about her having to be quiet while I'm trying to get 6mo old down for a nap until now. My 6 mo old is becoming more sensitive with noise and we have a two bedroom small house where I cannot escape noise. Is it too much to ask for her to be quiet while napping or even stay in living room while I'm rocking baby to sleep in my room?

We tried quiet time for awhile, but it became a struggle. Finally decided to let it go. Now my 3 year old just plays while I get the baby to nap. The only rule is she has to stay out of the room we're in. I try to make sure that she has access to a snack if she needs it, and try to time the nap when she is already playing quietly, then I just slip away to the other room with the baby.

Hmm. my 3 yo has separation issues, so getting the baby down is a family affair. It's guaranteed reading time. Now that the baby is older, I wear him for a while if he's to wired to nurse to sleep while I read. Then I nurse him, and read to DD. This works best when she's in the mood for chapter books. (Most of the time these days.) I do tone down the exciting bits.

This was a big struggle at my house because ds is not a naturally quiet person, and frankly, neither is dh. We have a small house. Outside time in our fenced back yard helped, but the supervision issue bothered me. In the end, this was just something that I let go and dd managed to adjust. 6 months is that annoying time when they do start to distract easily. Good luck.
