If you have to go to formula, like no soy no dairy formula, where do you get it from?

When is a good age to do the RAST?

When should a known priblem food be trialed? like dairy, how long should I tell people to wait?

Also, do you all recommend trialing peanuts in an allergist office? At what age is that done? Is it the same for tree nuts?

When do you directly trial shellfish or fish?

You're a nut.
We got Neocate through the Pediatric GI doc. Prescription. Insurance covered it (7 years ago it was $650/month -- don't know what it is now).
Any food should be at least 6 months from when they reacted last (I think a year is better).
We've never done RAST.
Do you know that they're allergic to peanuts or shellfish or fish? Even though my kids were intolerant (not allergic), I trialed those just like I trialed everything else. Though some people recommend waiting until at least age 3 for the highly allergenic stuff.
Do you have the names, phone numbers, and addresses/directions of all your doctors?
Do you have all your password information so that DH can get into mothering.com to ask us all questions?
Do you have all your account information (insurance, bank, etc.)?
Do you have blood types, drug allergy information, vax (if applicable), illness information?
I actually have a spreadsheet with our whole family's health history (including DH and my brothers and sisters, parents, and grandparents -- it's got blood types, hereditary diseases, date/cause of death (for grandparents), stitches and broken bones for my kids, etc.)
I also have an emergency bag in my car with 2 sets of clothes and 1 set of pjs for each person, plus 2 pullups (I guess I could take those out now), dye free benadryl, hand sanitizer, rice milk, and a few food items. I did that one after New Orleans. But it's come in pretty handy when my kids have gotten all muddy somewhere or we stayed too late somewhere and they needed pjs.

Thanks so much for the answers, and for the further help on info I should gather together. I sure do have my work cut out for me on this, but I think it is important and it will give me peace of mind. I dont want to spend another car trip obsessing and crying about feeling unprepared and worrying that my son will not be properly cared for. If you think of any thing else, let me know. I really appreciate your help.

Also, i am glad to know I am not the only prepared one (some may read that paranoid, but whatever, who will be ready in an emergency? you and I) I have this enormous car safety kit in my car. It has those metal blankets, snack, water, flares, gloves. I also keep 2 flashlights in the car, with another set of gloves. A phone book. And A mini car battery powered air compressor.

So, no I dont know that ds is allergic to peanut, shellfish, or fish, I just live in fear. I figured I would trial things like usual, but peanuts make me incredibly nervous.

When I was at the grocery store this morning, I wrote down all the brands of deli meat to put on "the list" and what store it was at. Another spreadsheet... of course, even when I buy stuff, I always look at the ingredients just to make sure they haven't changed....
Do you have a fireproof box to put everything in?
I KNOW I'm paranoid. I just didn't think anyone else was!

I actually have a fireproof safe on my Christmas list this year. I am hoping my in-laws will get it for us. It is good to know we are not alone in our paranoia!

We got ours at Costco.
I think my brother is worse (he's got a pallet of food and a big drum of water in his basement). He and his wife are mormon though, so they do it because the church tells them to.
Now you've got me working on my safe foods list (brand, where to buy, and which kid it's safe for).

The only place my in laws really shop at is Walmart. The only things they have there are 350.00. they dont do any internet shopping. I found some online for cheaper, like the box style as opposed to the safe style. I will just have to fork out the dough from savings, because it is a necessity in my mind.

I'm pretty sure the one I got was less than $100.
Found it. Mine's gray. There is also a fireproof waterproof version that's like $139. I didn't get the waterproof one. Just the firesafe one. And I back up my computer once in a while, and stick the disk in there (pictures, documents). I also have a list of all my savings bond numbers (in my disaster bag in the car, along with my insurance policy #s). I guess I am paranoid.

Oh great, thanks. I think I iwll just get the fireproof one. I would order it now, but I will be leaving in a week for like 8 days and I dont want it sitting on my door step. But I am definatly going to get it.

Oh yeah, any thoughts on what age seafood and fish should be trialed?

My kids have intolerances, not allergies. I remember DS having tilapia pretty early (and he loved it). And both my kids love salmon. Of course one of them turned out intolerant to shrimp (according to the ALCAT test) and both are intolerant to tuna, but most fish and shellfish are okay for them. Somebody on here recommended waiting until age 3 for nuts, peanuts, and fish/shellfish. Can't remember who though. I'm going through my cupboards writing down all the brand names.... this will actually make it easier for me to shop online!!

I'm pretty sure we got our fire box at an office supply store like office depot or something. It's gray also and didn't cost too, too much money. We're getting to the point of needing a bigger one or another one though.
