Rosacea help

Gosh, I hope I spelled that right! Anyway, I basically have a touch of rosacea. My cheeks look almost sunburned sometimes. My face just seems blotchy and red.

I just normally wash my face with water (although it is pretty warm since it is in the shower). If I put on any lotion, it is the Clinque daily moisturizer (the yellow stuff).

Is there anything I can do to help?

It seems to be getting worse as I get older.....

I found out I had this a few years ago. It can be really hard at times to have. Once when it was quite bad a woman made a really rude comment to me "what's wrong with your face" she asked me! She was rude and uneducated about many things though and I couldn't think of a good come back at the time. Grrrr!!!

Anyway what really helped me is Dr.Hauschka that can be found in many health food stores and some drug stores. Also Avene was good as well and can be found in drug stores, near the higher priced make up area.

I have acne rosacea and when I was in Europe it was so bad with all the extreme weather I was out in,first a harsh Winter then a heatwave in the Summer and then another harsh Winter. I tried washing my face with Vichy Normaderm I think it was and used the cream it went with and it helped, but after a short time it dried out my skin. I tried so many different things that made it worse, like tea tree oil wash from the Body Shop. They say you should also avoid Noxema which I'd been using for years before the rosacea.

The Dr.Hauschka rose cream helped the most though. I liked the Avene Cleanance to wash my face with.

I have Type 1 rosacea - Erythematotelangiectatic. It started in my 30's and got worse once I had a child. I spent years trying to treat it OTC. It is a progressive skin disorder and can lead to ocular and neural rosacea and rhinophyma. My rosacea is actually now painful when I have flares. I realized that I needed to do something more or I would continue to get worse.

There are natural remedies, but none have ever worked for me except avoiding triggers. Untreated or undertreated, the capillaries become damaged, the redness becomes permanent and it becomes very painful (both physically and socially) as it progresses. That's what happened to me

I am now under the treatment of a dermatologist using traditional medicine. I have rosacea with seborrheic dermatitis, so I use both a topical (metrogel) for the rosacea and a topical (desonate) for the SD. I have also had IPL with V-Beam, which is the only relatively long-term relief. You can google for those terms. They are types of lasers.

Finally, you can join us over at http://www.rosaceagroup.org/The_Rosacea_Forum/ (a non-MDC rosacea forum) to ask questions of thousands of people who all have rosacea and have lots of different remedies (including natural ones that have worked for them). Good luck. I know how debilitating this condition is!!
