DS has been eating carrots that last couple days. They arent pureed smoth, they are more chunky. Is it normal for them to be undigested in the poop. His poop is never firm, he doesnt really eat many solids, so I dont expect it to be. It wasnt green, and didnt look very watery like some of his previous poops have, but it does have undigested carrots. So, tell me if that is normal or not.

Well, not that my daughter is one to judge normal by, but she still has undigested carrots in her dipe. Broccoli too.

Ya know, this type of question comes up again and again here in the allergy forum. I think someone should post a poll in the toddler forum and ask parents of NON-allergic infants/toddlers if they have undigested bits in their BMs. And what age their DC are...
(I really want to ask my daycare worker if DS's BMs look like others in the infant-toddler room, but I'm too embarassed.)

My new ped said that if there are no molars, then you should just expect to see food in the poo- not a big deal.

I have non-allergic kids. I read here so I can e understanding and supportive of my friends with allergic kids.
Anyway, my 2 yo has carrot bit (and many other veggie bits) in his poop on a regular bases. He's never had any symptoms of being allergic to anything (physical, emotional, or behavioral).
I wouldn't worry about it. . . . . then again, that is very easy for me to say coming from "this side of the fence".

ok, I will just assume this is normal. It is really hard to know what normal is. I think ASusan has a good idea, although i dont know if any of the "normals" would go for it.

love the subject!! sounds like my conversations with myself.. carrots and poop!
anyways, according to our pediatrician we should stop any foods we see undigested in the diaper. according to our pediatric allergist that has nothing to do with allergies but the speed of the specific child's digestion. honestly, i have trouble trusting any dr.s so i would say that as long as you aren't seeing any other side affects that lead to allergy or irritating your lo than i would say it shouldn't be a problem to have carrots, just not to over do it.
hope that helped a bit!
