I have question. My daughter will soon be starting a new private school that just opened up in my area. They know that we do not vaccinate and they are okay with that. The problem is that they are just starting out and none of us really know what needs to be done. Does the exemption paper get submitted to just the school or does it get submitted to a government agency as well? Do I send it to a government agency or does the school submit it?

You submit the form to the school, and they keep it on file in the health office.

Here all I needed was to go to the health dept. ask for the religious exemption sign my name to it have it noterized and turn it in the the school. Never had to speak a word about why I was getting it at all. The only one to bring it up is the ped. who asks yearly if I have changed my mind yet and when I say no they note it and that is it.

in most, perhaps all states, the school simply has to have files with up-to-date paperwork for each child.

if the state decides to inspect the school (and they do, regularly), they'll have someone come into the office and check out the files. They'll also look at stuff like restrooms, and fire-drill signage and anything else that is supposed to meet certain standards.
