Realistically (and without linking, please, so the thread doesn't get closed), how much can/do you make from your blog?

Thanks!

Oh, and if you'd like to pm me your blog if you haven't already, don't hesitate! I'd love to follow. Just please don't post it on here!

This is the best article I have found on the subject. It's called "How to Make Money from your Blog". It basically explains advertisements, traffic, and so forth.

So none of you have one?

I have a blog that supports my childcare business by giving me "free" advertising. I hope to sell ads later, but have not gotten that far.

You advertise. The only way you'll make money doing that is if you have a ton of traffic. Another thing would be to get a captive audience and then release a book.

I don't have a blog, however, Steve Pavlina has a blog, and I gave you the link to HIS blog explaining how he generates revenue from his blog in great detail.

Are you talking about the site builder thing? That seems kinda scammy to me...

I make anywhere from $10 on my lowest month and $400 on my highest month, but I don't blog too terribly often. If I did, I'd make more.

What do you use to "host" it? I know a lot of places like wordpress, etc., don't allow ads and other things.

No, it's not scammy. You could go to the link, if you are curious, but no need to guess, it's a short article explaining how to get traffic and advertisements on a blog.

edit pending.

I quoted too many words, so I'll just refer you to the link above instead of quoting. Thank you, QOTM.

I should dig into that more and find more info... When I googled it all I could find were sites that appeared to have been set up by the site builder people saying how wonderful they were so that's what threw me off... (do you recognize me btw? )

I use wordpress.org and pay for hosting through a hosting company. I like that because it provides greater control over design, plugins etc. The cost is something like $7 a month, and I at least cover my cost each month and--as I mentioned--I'd earn more if I blogged more often and were more receptive to promotions and ads. It's more of a hobby than a money maker at this point since I WOH full time. The key, I think, is to develop somewhat of a readership before you monetize. You can PM me if you have more questions.

After reading the article I did sign up for adsense and I just got approved. Thanks for posting. It is a great article.
