mind you this is pre-blocking. But I think I should have done that before seaming- oh well. Live and learn I guess.

I just finished seaming the roads into the fields. It is looking pretty good too:. I am not posting a pic yet because I haven't done any of the embellishing yet. Also- I need to either learn to crochet or take it to my mom to have her do a border around it. I might just learn to do this myself since she will have great intentions- but I will still end up leaked off and ripping it apart to redo.

I think I need to take a break from the double thickness peace fleece and knit something soft and cushy to make my hands work again....

Is everyone else going to be done by Christmas with thiers?

Dang, woman! I'm impressed! Mine is nowhere near complete and NEEDS to be finished by 12/21.

Oh! I can't believe you posted that and then didn't post pictures!!! AHHHHH!

I'm working steadily on mine- I've actually re-knit 3 of the squares because I didn't like the way they fit- and two of them were mine! I don't know what happened in between when I finished and when I mailed them- I swear they all measured right on before I vacuum-sealed them! Anyway, I've made roads and sewn together about half of it now.

Where is a pattern/discussion about this farm play mat? It sounds really neat - I might like to make one!

Thanks!

That's just mean. Posting that your play mat is all done, and then not putting up a picture!

Seriously - learn crochet. It's SOOOOO much easier than knitting, and you probably already know how to do it - you just don't know you know. You know?

There's a book called "Toy Knits" by Debbie Bliss that has a pattern. Here is a link: http://books.google.com/books?id=k4X...um=6&ct=result

Also "The Knitted Farmyard" : http://www.amazon.com/review/product/1844482170

One was also featured in "Living Crafts" magazine. Winter 2008 issue. It was based on the above, IIRC.

Looks like they will have 5 more designs in the next issue!

There are a couple pics on the magazine website. The pumpkin patch and knitted tree and just amazing! Off to get the issue later today.

I just got my new issue today... I have to mak fences now. Both kinds- those are so perfect...

I know how to crochet a chain- it can't be much harder than that right?

Ahem- any progress towards those pictures???

My mat efforts were derailed by some emergency hat knitting. I'll get back to it soon though!

Hmmm....

why don't I have MY issue yet?! I ordered back issues and a new subscription, and I got my back issues WEEKS ago.

I don't see why you would even need a real pattern- but maybe there are back issues on the living crafts website? That would be a little cheaper than books. Basically you are just knitting 12 differnt blocks and then seaming them together with knitted strips for your roads. I saw one on ravelry where the knitter just knitted different dish rags (well- that is what it looked like to me) and sewed them together.

On a side note- I have gotten side tracked by socks and mittens (the felted ones from the new issue (don't worry I have sometimes gotten mine a couple weeks after everyone else). I used superwash for the cuffs and knitted them right to the mitten to be felted. Worked like a charm! I suggest that to anyone! But now I might post a pic later tonight of the un-embellished mat. Just to tease ya'll.

Gah! I keep coming back here to SEE your mat!!

Can't wait to see the finished deal. I have been wanting to get in on a KAL, but I may just knit one all by myself.

I would call or email the publisher.
I had ordered some back copies and they didn't come and didn't come. When I called they said there had been problems with them receiving orders via internet and sent my order out the next day.
