"The Osbournes" - Page 2

!@#$%hooray for the Osbournes!!@#$%^

I just came upon this thread and it's great to see it! My husband is big time fan of ozzy's older stuff, and I have my handful of ozzy favorites...(crazy train, yeah..). But I just wanted to add my support for this great show...I think 95% of what I see on MTV these days is garbage, so the only reason I turn there now is for this great family entertainment! They really are psychotic in a really fun way, and as chaotic as they can be, I think there is this really lovely closeness, this comfortable-ness about them. Certainly when the son(Jake?) got really mad because Ozzy said no pot in the house,etc...he was just being a regular kid, and getting all upset. But in general, they hang out together and have fun together and I think that is so super cool!! I think Sharon is great, she's a tough @#$% to take, and needs to be, with that family!
Anyhow, enjoy it lots, right on Ozzy!

Posting again here

The newest episode that aired last night...the part where Sharon, Kelly and Jack surprised Ozzy by showing up for his birthday party and Sharon was kissing him and Ozzy said "where are the babies?" Call me crazy, but I got kinda misty there. The man loves his family. I like him.

I loved the "are the babies here" line too - he's messed up and totally burnt, but they are a stangely loving family. My husband has taken to calling "Sharon!!!" when he wants something from me the way that Ozzy does. It's funny because it's true. I love the fact that the whole thing is masterminded by Sharon (check out the executive producer credit) - she's an amazing business woman and ozzy would be nowhere without her- even if he is the prince of darkness lmao.

I loved that episode too! They do love each other -- in their own crazy way!!

Yeah, Sharon DOES have control over the show. In fact, they own the show, and only signed with MTV for one season, now they've decided to do a second season and they (the Osbournes) are asking for more money (in the high 7 figures is what I've read). And they should get more money, because the show is getting HUGE ratings, even higher than some shows on the three major networks. (I've heard the show is in the top ten). So, they're shopping it around and who knows where it will end up. DH wants to see it on HBO, he thinks it will be easier to understand what they're saying if they air it without the "bleeps."

P.S. I didn't see Sharon and Kelly on Rosie, but I did watch when 'NSync was on (I wasn't watching BECAUSE 'NSync was on, I just happened to catch that one -- hehe) and the band spent half their time talking about The Osbournes and doing the best Ozzy impersonations. It's amazing how popular this show has become!

P.P.S. I guess I'd like to see a show about Sting, Trudie and their family....though it might not be interesting because they seem to all get along really well....no swearing or yelling....but, hey, there would be lots of yoga!

I just started watching the reruns a few weeks ago. This is the funniest show I have seen in years. I keep chuckling thinking of Ozzy muttering to himself "Beam me up Scotty". Uh gee Ozzy, I think maybe he already did. :LOL

Love Love Love it! I never missed Ozzy when he was on Howard Stern and was thrilled to see they were getting their own show. Yeah, they're dysfunctional (but who isn't?) but he loves those kids so much...I wish my father had shown me a fraction of the love and affection Ozzy shows to his kids.

Side note...how galling must it be to the other daughter who wants to be a musician that Kelly got a number on the MTV movie awards?!?

The MoMo -- I heard that when they originally decided to do the Osbourne family album, the other daughter was supposed to be the one singing Papa Don't Preach....but something happened and she couldn't do it. So Jack suggested that Kelly step in. She did....and the rest is history!

I was pleased with her performance at the MTV awards. I thought she did a good job considering it was her first time performing on stage! I'm sure we'll see all of the behind the scenes stuff relating to that show, when the Osbournes 2nd season starts!

LOVE OZZY! I think the show is hilarious and I love the openness everyone has with one another. The kids aren't "afraid" to talk about anyhing with the parents. The craziness with the pets reminds me of MY house, as does the openness with teens.

Loved and laughed my a#@ off with the "no not wood Ozzy!" episode!!!!

Can't wait for the new ones. The only thing that I yelled at the screen for was when they were telling the kids they couldn't go out clubbing anymore 'cause they were too young, etc. I agreed with that but I thought well, where the h*** are the kids getting all thir money?! CUT THEM OFF! DON'T GIVE THEN ANY MORE $$$$!

I did see Sharon on an interview where "parenting experts" were rating her parenting and Sharon admitted to being a total wuss with following through with consequences. The "experts" did praise the honesty and obvious affection. AWWWW!

As far as other celebs doing this I heard that -- GET THIS -- VH1 is doing one with that mega-boob lady Anna Nicole Smith. WOWWW. THAT should be interesting. :

Then again what do you expect from a channel that gave Anna's life TWO HOURS worth of treatment on its show Hollywood Story.

Love, love, love Ozzie! Can't wait till the next season starts. I was just reading an article in my local paper about Ozzfest, which was apparently nearby recently (i didn't attend - home with my 13 month old). The author of the article was kind of closed-minded. He wasn't appreciating the "dark" art that surrounds heavy metal culture. I'm not a metal head, but I can appreciate the counter culture, the being-in-touch-with-your-dark-side (which is very important), celebrating darkness, that sort of thing. The journalist called Ozzie's family dysfunctional, but he didn't say it in a fond way. He said it in a sort of disapproving way. Gosh, after watching each episode several times last season, I really think it's a loving family of quirky, artistic, liberal, anti-establishment people. I think the swearing is somewhat common in some blue collar families. I think Ozzie came from a hard working, salt-of-the-earth blue collar family in England. I don't think swearing is a huge deal, if kids know when not to swear out in public.

Just my $.02.

There is something to that. My fil can't say two words without swearing. We haven't seen him in years (long dysfunctional family story). My dh used to swear a lot before we had children, but then he stopped, at least at home. Fil, now retired, and dh are both construction workers, so it does kind of come with the territory. I'm glad my kids haven't been exposed to it all the time though, I really wouldn't want them swearing like Ozzy's kids.

I'm still watching the reruns, the show is addicting. I hope Sharon is recovering from her cancer surgery, but who the heck is running the family with her recouperating?
