Dh is a correctional officer - just started recently. They made mention in his training class this am that they'll be asked to get a Hep B vax when they return to work from training in a couple of weeks. There is an option to sign a refusal form if they want to choose not to get the vax. We know dh has no immunity because they ran titres as part of his pre-employment physical.
I did read through the Pink Book chapter on Hep B so I at least understand a bit more about the issue. From what I understand he'd be considered an "intermediate risk" for getting Hep B. He would have less risk of a chronic infection since he's an adult and would be more likely to have a symptomatic presentation if he were to get it.
Aside from electing to be tested after potential exposure or electing to get the vax, what other actions/issues have I missed or do we need to consider?
