Dec. 22 Wander through Hyde Park's xmas lights (a neighborhood that really does xmas up)
Dec. 23 Watch A Christmas Story
Dec. 24 Watch It's a Wonderful Life, open 1 gift, leave treats for Santa and the reindeer
Dec. 25 Empty - to be filled with a letter from Santa
Dec. 26 Make a list of what we're thankful for
Dec. 27 Have a picnic beneath the tree in the living room
Dec. 28 Family game night
Dec. 29 Make a fire in the fireplace (we're in TX, so this is a big deal)
Dec. 30 Make New Year's resolutions and tuck into stockings
Dec. 31 Take down decorations and toast the new year

So far, it's been going wonderfully. And the little one decries that we must do this "every single year from now on."

Anyone else come up with some good, steal-able ideas?

We're concentrating on community activities this year because the price is always right.

We went to our town's tree lighting ceremony last night and it was so much fun! The jr high choir sang, a local coffee shop served free cocoa, and when they flipped the switch nearly every tree in the park was lit. So cool!

Today, we're going to children's museum that has free first Friday admission.

Next week is a community concert--again free.

A couple of nights ago we made Christmas coasters to give as gifts. Ceramic tiles for $.14/each, a $1 piece of fancy paper, a bottle of mod podge and a foam brush. Easy peasy.

We'll devote a night to putting up the tree and decorating it.

And we do our Advent wreath ceremony every night, too.

So far, I've gotta say this is the best Advent ever!

Finally! I've just finished my blog post with photos of our advent calendar, so I thought I'd bump this up.
