Religious exemption in Texas has to be signed by a clergy member? What?

The nutritionist at the WIC office said that in order for my children to attend school w/o being fully vaccinated, a clergy member would have to sign a religous exemption form. Is this true? And I thought it was just a "reason of conscience" in Texas. Either way it won't be a problem but, I'd like to give this lady the right info if she is wrong. And I'd like to know the right info regardless.

Absolutely NOT!

Here's the Texas DHHS exemption page, you can even file one online

Yep, you just request that form & once you get it you'll need to have it notarized.

That person is seriously misinformed, as the pp's have shown. If you have the time and energy, informing (in writing) someone in a position of authority at the WIC office would be a kindness to the next person in the door, and if you can mention how this could be construed as religious discrimination, maybe they'll actually educate the office staff. Wow--things are so easy in Texas (pick-and-choose philosophical exemption, anyone can be selective/delayed), it's painful that this could happen here!
