Traveling with mama cloth?

So, I've used the keeper (rubber menstrual cup) for many years, but I just started using mama cloth this year (as a back-up with the keeper during the day and on its own at night). I have not had my period while out of town since I started using the mama cloth, and I will be going out of town Tuesday-Friday and will have my period.

Anyway, when I'm home, I normally put my pads in a sink with cold water (frequently changed) to soak until I'm ready to wash in the machine. But I'm not sure what to do while I'm traveling, as I don't want to soak the used pads and then have to take wet pads on an airplane. Will they be okay if I don't soak and just tuck them in a wetbag till I get back on Friday? For some reason, I'm really unsure of that idea. Even though I hate disposables, I'm contemplating taking them just because it might be easier.

Any insight is much appreciated! Thanks!

I'd probably soak anyway and then squeeze them out as much as possible before putting them in a ziplock for the ride home.

I never soak or rinse and have no problems with getting them clean in the wash. I would just throw them directly in a wetbag while you are traveling and bring them home.

How long will you be gone?

I rinse mine out, and let them dry till wash day and wash with regular clothes. Could you rinse them in the sink and hang over the shower rod at night in your hotel? Something like that, then you could take dry pads home on the plane.

I'd probably use disposables on the trip- I travel so rarely that I'm not worried about the environmental impact of 1 pack of sposies per decade.

It probably wouldn't be hard to put them in a "wet bag" after use (unsoaked) and just wash them when you return home- they might get stained but so what? They're pads, not blouses.

thanks for all the feedback, mamas. i think i decided on a compromise of the keeper with cloth during the day and disposables at night. My flow is heavy enough that my nighttime cloth pads would probably need to be rinsed so well that they'd be soaked anyway. I think for the three nights I'm gone, this is the best solution...

Thanks again.
