I am not sure what I am going to do.

Totally wasn't expecting that email though.
I know.. I'm not sure what to do. I'd really rather have an awesome price on just one of the car seats.
But I think this is probably the best we're going to do.

I think legally you can still try to hold them accountable for the pricing error if you don't take the gift card. I'm not sure if that would work or not, but it makes me think they're giving the gift cards so that they don't get a bunch of lawsuits or anything.

I can't find that thread, I'd like to read it to see how they compare. Would you happen to be able to link it for me?
Thank you

I think it was removed. I'm not sure we're even supposed to be talking about it since it was removed? Hmmm... oops!

I got that e-mail today, too. It was much more conciliatory than the first one, canceling the order. That one was written in a rush, I suspect, while this one was written after some thought. I take it as partly an attempt to avoid lawsuits and partly just good public relations, and that's fine with me. The website stated their policy about pricing errors and I saw it before I placed my order. While I'm bummed about not getting two good carseats at a fabulous discount, realistically, I can't see how they could swallow a loss that large. I don't think they owe me $25, either -- it's a nice gesture.

I suppose that Target does have their butts covered by their TOS and all that...how could courts enforce them to honor a mistake, especially if they don't have the carseats to sell...but a bunch of lawsuits WOULD cost them alot of money even if the consumers all lost. probably is just a way of preventing the slew of frivolous lawsuits.

Apples and oranges is right! I can't believe so many are so upset over this! When's the last time Britax seats when on sale for $42? Are they supposed to have an unlimited supply so everyone can order 5 a piece? give me a break!

I think everyone here conceivably knew it could have been an error when $270 seats are being sold for $42. Is that not a no brainer or does common sense go out the window at that price? If it's too good to be true it probably is! Move on!

Yeah, exactly. I am : at the $25 gift card and absolutely don't expect them to honor such a big pricing error. TBH I am shocked that so many people feel entitled to a car seat at a price that was an obvious error. I too would have preferred a car seat at a great price but I don't feel entitled to it.

me too. Target never even charged my bank account so there was no harm done. It took me all of 1 minute to place my order (since all my info is saved) and so I feel like I got a free $25 from Target when really, they don't owe me anything.

I can't believe people think they shouldn't take the e-gift card instead of filing a law suit. They should be happy they got anything. Target is covered by their TOS aggrement... trying to get anything else out of them for their mistake is crazy and greedy IMO.

I don't think anyone (unless I missed something?) feels entitled to anything at all. Just wishful thinking.

The $25 e-gift card was a very pleasant surprise Combine that with some of their upcoming holiday deals and that's a cherry on top!

maybe it was on other threads about this, there are a few just on MDC alone. I still feel bad for Target, actually... but will use my $25 and spend some money I probably wouldn't have for gifts with them so in the end they may be better off.

It was an e-mail. Maybe check your spam filter? If not, I would think maybe it's coming soon. Didn't they send out the other notices in waves?

It might have been a different thread, there were so many on this topic. ETA: It was the identical thread on the Family Safety forum.

We had no way to check the price. We couldn't go to the price scanner and see how it came up. The website said "Normal retail: 279 (or whatever), Sale price $42, 80% off" And there were TWO car seats, by the same manufacturer, same STYLE, being offered at deep discount. On another board, some people CALLED Target, and were told those were the correct prices.

People thought the low price was legit because they are older chairs (lower weight limit), and Target could conceivably be getting rid of them to make way for the newer stock, especially around Christmas time.
I think the situations are identical. A $9 item could certainly have been marked down to half price - but she KNEW that it was NOT $4. There is no way that a perfectly good $300 car seat would be marked down 85% and the people who jumped on the offer KNEW that there must be something wrong, but they wanted to get theirs while the getting was good.

I read the original Britax thread, as well as several threads on other deal-grabber sites, and there absolutely was suspicion that it was a DE error, but there was also an attitude expressed by many that it was "too bad, so sad" for Target.

I think it's really generous that they're giving us all $25. Do you all know whether we can use this in the store or if it has to be redeemed via their website? We need dishwasher detergent and I'd rather not pay shipping on it.

I think it's online only.

As an apology
for your experience, we'd like to provide you a $25 e-GiftCard to use
on Target.com

I don't feel entitled to my seat, I am bothered by the fact that Target told me(and others) that nobody would get the seat and there are at least 2 MDC moms alone that got them. That's why I am bugged. If they didn't have any seats to fulfill the orders and this was a mistake why did some people get them? That's my only problem, I just was hoping I'd get a smokin deal(and some people did).

I'm not sure what I'll be doing concerning the e-mail. Maybe I'll get a different car seat with it.
