Great for unsure first-time moms

Posted

Pros: Sturdy, adjustable, feels safe

Cons: Bulky to store, quickly outgrown

I received this tub as a gift before my daughter was born.  As a first-time mom with no experience around babies, I was nervous about holding a wet, slippery newborn, and this tub made that less intimidating.  The sling is secure, and the tub fit nicely into my kitchen sink.  My DD only used this tub for a very short time.  I eventually started getting in the tub with her, and then once she could sit on her own I put her in the regular bathtub for baths.    Because it was only used for a short time and it is pretty bulky to store, I would instead go with a simple pad or sponge for the sink if I were doing it over.  The toddler seat portion is...

Inexpensive but functional

Posted

Pros: Cape-stye, so no gaps on sides, inexpensive

Cons: Cheap feeling, short

I ended up with two nursing covers by The First Years, and this was not my favorite.  It did the trick--covered me all around, with enough room at the top to peek in on baby, but not much more than that. I really liked that it is like a poncho rather than a blanket with a loop. I like my sides covered in some situations, and it mostly does that.  It is adjustable at the shoulder, so I would imagine some people might find that helpful.  I'm tall but average sized, so it wasn't. This cover is a little shorter than others, so it doesn't cover all of my waist on the sides if I pull my shirt up rather than opening it, but it is more covering than some of the other styles....

Excellent for WOTH Moms or Exclusive Pumpers

Posted

Pros: easy to carry, easy to clean, plenty of room to store, speed/strength adjustment

Cons: milk gets in tubing which is annoying to clean, side pockets not really useful

This pump saved my breastfeeding relationship. My DD was born full term and taken to the NICU 4+ hrs away by helicopter.  My parents bought me this pump after I had limited success first with a hand pump and then with a hospital Ameda pump. They paid too much because it was sort of an emergency and didn't have time to order online or wait for a coupon. I've pumped everywhere with it. In the hospital, cars, closets, bathrooms, my desk at work, you name it.  There is plenty of room in the bag for a baby blanket or cloth, the bottles, and something to pass the time. The fabric holds up really well despite abuse.  I used it at least once a day every day for a year,...

My go-to Toddler carrier!

Posted

Pros: very supportive, easy on, great for toddlers

Cons: somewhat bulky when sitting or worn under a coat

I absolutely LOVE my Ergo, and if I had to choose only one carrier for a toddler, this would be it. We started using this when DD was about nine months old, and it really has made life easier.  She prefers a front carry (still, at 21 months), and this makes it easy to stay warm when it is cold out.  This is definitely one of the best baby purchases we made.  I agree with another reviewer that the waist padding is comfy but bulky, so it is not easy to sit comfortably with your LO in a front carry.  The straps are of the same weight, but they don't bother me.   I do think the price is a little high, but they are really well made, so I'm hoping mine...

Best baby item EVER.

Posted

Pros: It works, easy to clean, no worry of poking baby's brain with bulb aspirator!

Cons: Have to get over the mental block of involving parent's mouth in snot-sucking process.

Without a doubt, this was an AWESOME gift from the in-laws.  I had a colicky, spirited baby, and this was the only way I could get her snot out.  She hated anything coming near her face, and the Nosefrida ensured that we only had to try each nostril once.  It really minimized the torture for DD! The snot only goes like an inch into the tube, and it doesn't get anywhere near your mouth. Easy to clean.  Wonderful product!
