Wonderful instead of a wrap


Pros: Easy to use, support for baby, long life, fits wide size range

Cons: Not as much padding for heavy older child

My son disliked wraps so we were thrilled to discover Mei Tais when he was one month. This is our favourite. Supportive for his little body, comfortable on mine. Great fit on me, my husband and anyone else. I loved the huge variety of fabric options and an glad I went for the pocket on the back to hold the spit up cloth. It was a dream to have it on a seven hour bus ride when he was two months old. It worked great to put my son on my back at four months, but as he got heavier that 25 lb I found I needed a carrier with more support. My husband still prefers the ease of this carrier.

I sold my Ergo to buy the Oh Shap!


Pros: supportive, padded straps, fits wide range of bodies

Cons: sternum strap can come off, for bigger babies

My son is a chunker, 22 lb at 6 months, so I needed a really supportive carrier. I have a small frame and even with the Ergo straps tightened all the way, it was not snug enough. The Oh Snap has a longer body, and better padding and shaping in the hips, with straps there to adjust the way it sits. The sternum strap slides over most of the shoulder strap for perfect placement. It does slide off the end and my husband always manages to do that. To tighten the shoulder straps, you reach under your arms, which make it much easier to tighten with the baby on your back. Babyhawk makes their carriers in a huge variety of fabrics and lets you pick your design. I have washed it several times...
