These are my favorite breast milk storage bags

Posted

Pros: lay flat or stand up, easy to read, pour well

Cons: I remember they were a little pricey

I don't remember how much I paid for these, but I do know that they were my favorite of the different milk storage bags I tried. They were easy to write on and had a line to identify who's milk it is and when you pumped it. This makes it very easy for other caregivers to make sure that the right baby is getting the right milk. I also like that the design of the bags allows you to lay them flat for easy mass storage and quick thawing. You also have the option of freezing them in an upright position. The pour spout was easy to pour from as well and has a ziplock incase you want to save some for later in the day in the fridge.

Great Preschool Bible

Posted

Pros: Short stories, questions, and a prayer

Cons: Questions can be a little too close-ended

I really enjoy reading this Bible with our child. I feel that the stories are short enough that they hold his attention while still communicating the essentials. I like that there are a couple of questions after each story. This is helpful for me as a parent in engaging my child in the reading. The only thing that I would change (as an elementary teacher) I would like to see more open-ended questions that would allow the child to draw meaning for themselves, rather than always asking obvious close-ended questions. This is a very good preschool Bible and can be read to younger children as well. I like too that there is a short prayer that you can pray after each story.

The cream works, but at what cost?

Pros: Does help with stretch marks

Cons: Has questionable ingredients

This lotion actually works. It really helped pre and post pregnancy. Unfortunately, it has questionable ingredients that many have found to be possibly toxic. When I found that out, I threw away my lotion and started looking for a natural stretch mark reducer. You make the call as to what it's worth to you to use this product.

Pretty good wet bag

Posted

Pros: Zips, two separate layers, pvc free

Cons: odor comes through a bit

It is supposed to be this first odor-free, leak-proof wet-bag of it's kind. I was really excited to try it out since we travel a lot and the size would make it convenient for travel. So far, it's proved to keep the wetness in, but I can smell the diapers a bit through it. I had higher expectations for it. It's still a pretty decent wet bag, though.

What CAN'T you do with Lemon essential oil?

Posted

Pros: Pure essential oil

Cons: pricey

Lemon essential oil is incredibly useful for all sorts of things. We've used it for cleaning surfaces and disinfecting, because of it's antibacterial properties. We've also tried using this in our diaper pail to help with the smell and disinfect the air, but it doesn't seem to be quit as powerful at masking the smell as rosemary essential oil. The scent seems to fade after awhile.

Soothing and good for congestion

Posted

Pros: Pure essential oil

Cons: pricey

Essential oils are pricey, but most of the time it's worth it, especially from a company like Aura Cacia. I know that this oil is pure and was careful crafted. We have used this many times in the bath tub for a relaxing soak or to clear up our child's congestion. It's so nice that a little bit goes a long way. Good investment, especially for cold care.

Excellent Baby Massage Oil

Posted

Pros: Nourishes and protects skin, safe for babies

Cons: pricey

I trust this brand. They do a good job sourcing their ingredients and make good products. I bought this bottle a couple of months after my child was born so that I could do baby massages and over one year later, I still half of the bottle left. It might be a little pricey, but it will last longer and is more economical. It has a very mild scent and is safe for baby. I like to add a couple drops of essential oil to give it soothing scent for the massage.

Great first toothbrush

Posted

Pros: rounded end, teething bumps, easy grip

Cons: made of plastic

I got this as a gift from a dentist and couldn't wait for the day when my child was old enough to start using it. I like the rounded end and feel good knowing that he's not going to gag himself on it. I also don't have to worry about him running with his toothbrush and getting hurt (not that I would let him run with it on purpose). The only thing I would change, would be having the toothbrushes made with PVC, phthalate and BPA free materials.

Okay toothpaste

Posted

Pros: Great Flavor, made with Xylitol

Cons: Uses SLS and Fluoride

This was my first experience with natural toothpaste. It has a great peppermint taste and is naturally sweetened using xylitol. They are also a generous company, which I admire. I don't like that they use sodium lauryl sulfate (the same stuff in dish detergent) to clean teeth. I also don't like fluoride and think that are natural ways to strengthen and protect teeth without the use of it.

Delightful smell, good for your body

Posted

Pros: Powerful scent, cleans without stripping skin

Cons: doesn't leave me as moisturized as I would expect

I got this from Whole Foods for free in a gift bag when I toured their store. It was a welcome surprise, because the scent was very strong and pleasant. It fills our whole bathroom when we shower. It is made from organic ingredients and is from a brand you can trust. The only thing that I wish was different is for the soap to leave my skin feeling a little more moisturized.
