Perfect for tiny cars!

Posted

Pros: small, sturdy, comfortable, easy to use

Cons: stiff shoulder pads, sun shade

If you have a tiny car, this is the car seat for you. I drive a VW Beetle (by necessity, I would not recommend it for kids as it doesn't have a great safety rating) and this car seat fit perfectly behind the passenger seat. Granted, the passenger seat did have to be scooted way forward, but it did fit and it was the only car seat that would fit and we were able to fit my older child in the back with the baby and me in the passenger seat with my tall husband driving. I was even able to reach one hand all the way around behind me to help my son if he needed a finger to suck on or to hand him a pacifier or teething ring.   Installation was a breeze with the base. Our car is a...

Works with surprisingly low suction

Posted

Pros: induces letdown, beautiful bag, soft cups, comfortable, fantastic customer service

Cons: too many parts, very loud, slow, tiny collection bottles

I have the Simplisse Double Electric Breastfeeding Companion and after a couple of weeks, I am still having a few problems with it, but am somewhat happy with it overall. The pump has a bit of a learning curve and I was advised by both the manual and their customer service representative to give it at least on week. I gave it two.   Pro: The customer service is absolutely fantastic! I really felt as though they were there in the room with me to help me, answer all of my questions and meet my needs. I am absolutely thrilled and recommend them just for their customer service.   Pro: The carrying bag is brilliant. It's beautiful and stylish, unlike other breast pump bags...

Great for a gift or after having a baby

Posted

Pros: delicious, natural, healthy, mostly vegan, no HFCS, no partially hydrogenated oil, natural

Cons: dried fruits have inedible parts

NatureBox provides monthly subscriptions for healthy snacks such as trail mixes, dried fruit and other natural dried foods. Each month, you will receive a boxed filled with a few packages of mixed healthy snacks.   NatureBox makes a fantastic gift, especially for a new mom. After having a baby, the last thing I wanted to do was get up and prepare food for myself. These easy snacks are mailed right to your door, perfect for any new mom who just can't seem to make it to the store as often as she needs to. It sure beats driving all the way to a new mom's house only to leave food on the doorstep.   In my first box, I received four packages: black pepper pistachios,...

Purchase refrigerated only

Posted

Pros: high-lignan, organic, great flavor, cold processed, non-GMO, 100% guarantee

Cons: must be purchased refrigerated or it may go rancid

I received a small sample of Barlean's to try and liked it. The flavor was excellent: a bit nutty and very fresh-tasting. It's incredibly important that you purchase this oil fresh and refrigerated at a local health food store, not ordered online. Flax oil can quickly go rancid. You'll know if your oil smells or tastes bad or if it is cloudy.   Barlean's guarantees their product and I love that it's cold-pressed, non-GMO and 100% organic. If you are looking for flax oil that you can add to smoothies or use in cooking, I recommend it.

Gummies for Mama, Too? Joy!

Posted

Pros: tasty, natural ingredients, donates to charity

Cons: contains retinyl palmitate, higher-priced, non-vegan

Before I go into a review, could I first just share my joy at having discovered that they now make gummy vitamins for adults? Now if we could just figure out world peace, everything would be perfect.   Seriously, though, I have always had problems swallowing pills. My gag reflex is so strong that no matter how I try to force something down, it comes back up. I've tried every trick in the book and switching to more natural vitamins just made things worse since they tend to be even larger than the store brands and I have to take more of them to fill the serving requirements.   Smartypants adult gummy vitamins are delicious. They taste exactly like Annie's gummy bunny...

Gentle and smells great

Posted

Pros: smells great, gentle, mild scent, excellent quality, no animal testing, natural ingredients, handmade

Cons: not for extremely sensitive kids, not vegan

I just adore this soap. The bar is beautiful and the quality is fantastic. I love the gentle honey and chamomile scent. It's gentle enough to use on my baby boy and I like it on my skin as well. It's not at all drying. The bar does feel a little different from other soaps I have tried, but it lathers up nicely. It really feels luxurious.   I was not able to use this soap on my daughter, however. She is very, very sensitive "down there" and has always had to use incredibly mild soaps in her bath to avoid stinging. Most soaps burn, but she only had mild itchiness with this soap, so it is definitely very gentle, but if your kids have severe problems with soaps or have broken skin...

Great taste, okay ingredients

Posted

Pros: great taste, omega 3, DHA, natural ingredients, eco-friendly ingredients, supports charity

Cons: expensive, contains sugar, retinyl palmitate, non-vegan

My daughter loves these vitamins and, while they are not perfect, I thought the were pretty good. They contain only all-natural flavors and ingredients which is very important to us because, like many children, my daughter has a sensitivity to food dyes. I love that they contain omega-3 and DHA which our store-brand vitamins we usually use do not. They contain no high-fructose corn syrup, but do contain sugar. They taste great and are not too chewy. They taste and feel exactly like Annie's gummy bunny fruit snacks but with a dusting of sugar crystals on the outside.   A single serving of gummies consists of 4 pieces which is good because it allows you to stretch the intake out...

Work well, but not worth it

Posted

Pros: fit newborns, no leaks, dry quickly

Cons: expensive, plastic

These diapers came highly recommended, but were nearly $40 EACH at our local baby store. OMG! Online, the price was not a whole lot better. For diapers made in China, you'd expect them to be a bit less than mom-made diapers.   I was given two of these used from a friend and I admit, they do work great, but there are other OS diapers out there for much cheaper. Also, the diapers are polyester and lined with PUL, so not breathable. No rashes here, but babies prone to rashes may have problems.   I do like that the elastic inserts are removable and you can replace them easily. They dry up quickly on the line because they are made of polyester fabric, though the inserts...

Kawaii Baby Minky and Bamboo one-size pocket diapers

Posted

Pros: highly absorbent, soft, durable, no leaks, fits newborns, beautiful colors, low price, 2 inserts

Cons: bulky on newborns, inserts take a long time to line-dry

I normally don't buy anything made in China, but had to go against my rule or cloth diapers. After months of trying, I was unable to get any affordable ones used online and finally caved to buying new made-in-China diapers online since they were so much cheaper than used pocket diapers of any other brand. Unless it's mom-made, the others are all made in China anyway, even those commonly believed to be made in Canada. (They're not.)   I am SO SO glad that I did get them. I searched reviews on all of the cheap brands and read so many good things about the Kawaii Baby bamboo diapers that I decided to try them. You can get them for around $11 on their website, but if you look for...
