Just found out today we are having twins.

I am shocked, excited, overwhelmed, scared and amazed. Not sure what this will do to my all-natural birth plan, as I am not sure I am comfortable having twins at home.

OH MY!!! So many questions running through my head - I think I need to just let this sink in for a few days:)

omg, yay:joy: I'm so happy for you, I keep wondering if I'm carrying twinS ( probly not though) but I'm still researching twin hombirth.

Are these your first babies?

My friend who had twins her first pregnacy said it wasn't that hard as a first time parent because you have nothing to compare it to but she said after her twin her singleton was such a BREEZE

ARE THEY FATERNAL OR IDENTICAL?

Thanks for all of the kind words Ladies...

I am just 5 weeks along and had a u/s because I have had a few previous miscarriages and had some spotting. There they were! We have one DS, who is two years two months. I had a great labor and birth with him - although we were in IL at the time so it was in a hospital (home birth was not going to work with our living situation and birth centers are illegal in IL). But, I labored at home for about six hours and got to the hospital at 10cm (thinking I was going to be 4 and sent home!!). Pushing took a good long while, but overall is was a great experience! I am excited, but have to admit that all I can think about is how we are going to afford this, how will I get through this pregnancy and still take care of my son, how will I keep my job, how I will convince a very intervention oriented OB atmosphere where I live that I have a normal, safe healthy pregnancy. Ugh - too many things running through my head! This is a miracle and we are blessed, but it is overwhelming too!!

I am just so thankful to have found this board and all of you great woman to be pregnant with!!

I live in IL and yeah it sucks... but I'm sorta lucky.

My hospital has a "Birthing Place" which is like a birthing center only inside the hospital... It's a really relaxed atmosphere... they have great showers you can sit in and just have the water run down your back... they do water births... they let you birth in whatever position you feel most comfortable doing (mine was the usual hospital position though...)

Plus the Family Practitioner I see is absolutely awesome... she really wanted me to try a homebirth with my son until I had complications (placental abruption, neither of us wanted to risk it) and needed induced.

I think it's just best if you find the place YOU are most comfortable doing it. Especially with two. ;)

congrats! Did you notice anything substantially different that you did the first couple weeks with your son? Did you get hcg test done before the u/s?
