HI there all you brave women--

Clomid isn't working for me. The dr wants to go to injectables, and says that we need to do IUI once ovulation is induced by gonadotrophins and an ultrasound/trigger shot.

Has anyone out there used the injectables? Were you able to use intercourse or is there some reason that you have to do IUI? I'm sure it's more controlled and more profitable for the dr, but I'm wondering if it's absolutely necessary to be effective.

We can't afford IUI and are hoping to find out that it's possible to do the injectables with intercouse vs IUI.

Thanks for any help you may have. Good luck to each of you!

Hi Adrienne,
I don't know if this will be much help, but our dr. did allow for injectible cycles without IUI. We were about to move onto them and he went over the protocol with us. That was about four years ago, and things change quickly in the IF world, but he left it up to paitents. I remember him saying some felt it would be cheaper in the long run, but he didn't see much of a difference in his practice. He monitored each cycle fairly closely. Of course, they can only tell so much because the cycle we were told was a complete bust is the one where we conceived dd.
Anyway, if you can't afford IUI, I say go for it au natural. If there is an eggie there and husband doesn't have any issues, I don't see why you couldn't have success.
Take care,
Pamela
