Sigh...so I've been making diapers and they're turning out great, but I've got a question. The last one I made today gave me a horrible headache. The needle kept skipping stitches and causing trouble. I went out and got jersey/ball point needles and that helped somewhat (sewing on recycled t-shirt, which I've done a million times in the past without a special needle, but never on such a thick application) and I was able to finish the diaper, but I broke 2 needles in the process. Now the machine seems to be skipping occasionally even on woven fabrics, especially on anything thicker than 1/4 inch or so. It's a really great machine. A bernina. Is it something to do with the jersey in particular, or do you think it just needs to be serviced? I have a lot of sewing to do before baby comes in April!! eek.

my machine started to do this once (a very old singer), so I took it in to be cleaned & adjusted. the guy said that the pendulim (sp?) was off. I have no idea what that means, but if it's about time for a cleaning anyway I'd just take it in.

Probably not a bad idea. Thanks.
