Thoughts about preparing to adopt?

Hi! I've been asked to write a chapter for the new edition of Our Bodies, Ourselves, and it deals in part with preparing to adopt. I'd love to hear thoughts and experiences from adoptive moms about things that are important to consider when choosing to adopt.
