I started back to work this week, after many months of worrying about how awful it would feel and how much ds and I would suffer. Surprise, surprise ... it went well. I actually enjoyed being at work. I had forgotten how much I like to work. And ds is doing great with our nanny. He seems so content when I get home and she is quite loving and attentive. (He slept on her back in a sling this afternoon for example!). YEAH!!!!!!!
Anyway, thought some of you about to return to work might benefit from hearing about a happy, positive (and unexpectedly so) experience.
And to top it off, I've been able to pump enough milk!

I had a very similar experience. I worried from teh time DS was about 6 weeks old, until he was 6 months, how going back to work would be. Well, it was a lot of time spent worrying for nothing. DS loves his daycare, they are so interactive, and he's developing tremendously. I enjoy my job (I wish I was busier, but I guess it's still a slow economy), and am glad that I can continue to develop my career on a part-time basis. I am so glad that things went well for you!

This is comforting to hear. Very nervous to start a new FT job myself soon and I have been quite worried about the stress on poor DD. I have explained to her that it is important for me to do this and not to take it personal. Now if someone can just call back for an interview. My biggest worry is how she will adjust to daycare.
